Monthlet
ai.monthletPublished by monthlet.aiv1.2.1Updated Nov 7, 2026
Read and edit the notes in your local monthlet vault from MCP clients. Runs inside the monthlet app.
Overview
Bridge that lets MCP clients search, read and optionally edit the notes in a local monthlet vault through the running monthlet app.
- What you can do
- Search, list and read notes, grep note contents, list folders, files and attachments, and follow backlinks
- Read PDFs, images, files, chart data and sheet ranges from the vault
- Create and update notes, edit note text, change tags, create folders and sheets, apply sheet edits, add attachments
- Move and rename notes and folders
- Delete notes and folders, or merge notes (deleted items go to the system trash)
- When to use it
- Useful when you keep notes in monthlet and want Claude Code, Claude Desktop or another MCP client to look things up in them, or to draft and file new notes, without copying text back and forth.
- Requirements
- monthlet for macOS or Windows must be installed and running, with its MCP server turned on in Settings under Connectors (Publish to external agents). Node.js 18 or later is needed for the stdio bridge, which has no other dependencies. The bridge reads a local connection file holding the port and access token, so no token goes into client configuration.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Monthlet in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
README
monthlet MCP server
Use the notes in your monthlet vault from Claude Code, Claude Desktop and other MCP clients. Search and read notes, and, if you allow it, create and edit them.
The MCP server runs inside the monthlet app on your computer. This repository contains the small bridge that MCP clients start over stdio (monthlet-mcp.cjs). The bridge relays each message to the app over 127.0.0.1 and does nothing else. It sends nothing to the internet.
Requirements
- monthlet for macOS or Windows, running
- The MCP server turned on in monthlet: Settings > Connectors > Publish to external agents > Publish
- Node.js 18 or later (the bridge has no other dependencies)
If monthlet isn't running, or the MCP server is off, every tool call returns an error that says so.
What the server can do
Reading is on as soon as you publish. Writing, moving and renaming, and deleting each have their own switch in the same settings section, and all three are off by default.
Every tool carries MCP tool annotations (readOnlyHint, destructiveHint), so clients can ask before running the ones that change your notes.
Install
Claude Code plugin
Install monthlet from the Claude plugin directory, or from this repository in Claude Code:
The plugin runs node ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/monthlet-mcp.cjs.
Claude Code, by hand
Clone this repository, then:
On macOS you can also use the copy inside the app. monthlet shows the exact command in Settings > Connectors > Publish to external agents > Setup.
Claude Desktop and other clients
Add a stdio server that runs the bridge with Node.js. In Claude Desktop's claude_desktop_config.json:
On Windows, write the path with escaped backslashes, for example "C:\\Users\\you\\monthlet-mcp\\monthlet-mcp.cjs".
How it connects
While its MCP server is on, monthlet writes a connection file with the current port and access token to its user data folder, and deletes the file when it stops:
- macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/monthlet/mcp-endpoint.json - Windows:
%APPDATA%\monthlet\mcp-endpoint.json, or, for the Microsoft Store version, the same path inside%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\t27d.monthlet_*\LocalCache\Roaming
The bridge reads this file each time it connects, so the token never goes into your client's configuration, and regenerating the token in monthlet needs no change on the client side.
License
MIT. monthlet itself is not open source; this repository covers the bridge only.

50% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
