Overview

AI-generated overview

Generates custom patch designs in chat, prices them from a live price table, and returns order links on patchdesign.ai.

What you can do
  • Generate a production-ready patch design from a description or a reference image URL
  • Revise an existing design in plain words while keeping earlier versions
  • Price embroidered, woven, chenille, printed and PVC patches by type, size and quantity
  • Get an order link with type, size and quantity set, plus a link to connect a PatchDesign.AI account
When to use it
Useful when someone wants to design, price or order custom patches for a team, troop, club, department, event or brand directly from an AI chat, including quick quotes for a given size and quantity.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint; no API key or sign-in is needed to start. Adding it means registering the server URL in the client. A free PatchDesign.AI account, connected through a sign-in link, raises the per-chat limit of ten designs to the account allowance.
Before you install
Designs made in a chat are kept with that conversation so later turns can edit or order them. Previews carry a watermark; the clean file comes with the order. Nothing is ordered or charged from the chat, but the order link leads to a real purchase page where the user reviews and pays. Sign-in links expire in 15 minutes.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open PatchDesign.AI in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/ai.patchdesign%2Fpatch-designer/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

PatchDesign.AI MCP server

PatchDesign.AI designs custom patches in your AI chat. Describe a patch for your team, troop, club, department, event or brand, and the server generates a production-ready design and shows it in the chat. Ask for changes in plain words, ask what a run would cost, and get a link that opens your design on patchdesign.ai to order it.

This repository holds the server's documentation. The server itself runs on patchdesign.ai; its source lives in PatchDesign.AI's private codebase.

What the server does

ToolWhat it does
quote_patchPrices embroidered, woven, chenille, printed and PVC patches from the live production price table, by size and quantity.
design_patchGenerates a patch design from a description, or from the URL of a logo, sketch or photo. Takes about 15 to 30 seconds.
edit_patchChanges a design in plain words ("make the border gold"). Earlier versions stay.
order_linkA link that opens the design on patchdesign.ai with the type, size and quantity set. Nothing is ordered or charged from the chat.
sign_in_linkConnects a PatchDesign.AI account, which saves your designs to it.

In clients that draw MCP Apps (GitHub Copilot in VS Code, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor) a design shows as a card: the preview, its design reference (D-...), type and size, and an order button. Other clients show the preview image and the links, or the result's text and links.

Previews carry a light PatchDesign.AI mark; the clean production file comes with the order. Each chat can make up to ten designs before you connect an account.

Configure

The server needs no credentials. Add it by URL wherever your client takes a remote MCP server; https://patchdesign.ai/connect has the menu path for each one, checked against the vendors' help pages.

GitHub Copilot in VS Code: add the server to .vscode/mcp.json in a workspace (or to your user mcp.json through MCP: Open User Configuration):

json
{  "servers": {    "patchdesign": {      "type": "http",      "url": "https://patchdesign.ai/api/mcp"    }  }}

Then start it from the MCP: List Servers command, or from the server's CodeLens, and check that Copilot's Agent mode shows five tools.

Claude Code:

bash
claude mcp add --transport http patchdesign https://patchdesign.ai/api/mcp

Cursor: add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (every project) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project):

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "patchdesign": {      "url": "https://patchdesign.ai/api/mcp"    }  }}

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, Le Chat: add a custom connector with the server URL; the steps for each are on https://patchdesign.ai/connect.

Use

Ask in plain words. Things to try:

  • Design a 3 inch embroidered patch for Troop 42 with an eagle in navy and gold.
  • How much are 100 embroidered 3 inch patches?
  • Make the border gold and change the text to EST. 2026.
  • I want to order 50 of this one.

A design takes about 15 to 30 seconds. Each version gets its own preview and D- number. To change a design in a later turn, refer to it by its D- number in the same chat. When you want the patches made, the order link opens the design on patchdesign.ai, where you review the order and pay. Nothing is ordered or charged from the chat, and no delivery date is promised there: production takes about 10 business days after artwork approval, plus shipping.

After ten designs in a chat the server offers a sign-in link. Connecting a PatchDesign.AI account keeps the designs coming and saves them to the account at https://patchdesign.ai/my-designs.

Privacy and terms

Designs made through the chat are kept with the conversation that made them, so a later turn can change or order them. PatchDesign.AI's privacy policy (Section 3A covers the AI-chat connector) and terms apply.

quote_patch

Price a custom patch

Price a custom patch from the live PatchDesign.AI production price table: type, size and quantity in, the per-patch and total price in USD out, with the next quantity breaks and what the price already includes (artwork, a pre-production sample, worldwide shipping). There is no minimum: quantity 1 returns the sample prices, and by default quote the price breaks. Use it when the user asks about a price or a minimum.

design_patch

Design a custom patch

Generate a production-ready custom patch design from a description (and optionally a reference image URL). Takes about 15 to 30 seconds and returns the design as an image plus a design id for edits and an order link. Previews carry a light PatchDesign.AI watermark; the clean file comes with an order. Say what the patch shows and any text on it, spelled exactly. To change a design already made in this chat, use edit_patch with its id. A chat gets 10 free designs, then the user signs in with the link from sign_in_link. If the result says the service was busy, call it once more with the same input.

Change a design

Make a change to a design from this chat: pass its design id (d_...) and the change in plain words ("make the border gold", "change TROOP 42 to TROOP 24"). Use it for a change the user asks for later in the chat too, so the original artwork is kept. Returns a new design with its own id; the original stays. Counts as one design.
