Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP server that runs psychometric analysis on assessment response data, giving an assistant IRT item stats, ability estimates, reliability and mastery…

What you can do
  • Analyse items and tests: per-item IRT difficulty, discrimination and guessing, flags for bad items, and explanations of why an item is good or bad
  • Estimate each learner's true ability (theta) separately from test difficulty, plus Cronbach's alpha and item-total correlations
  • Select the next question from an item bank for computerized adaptive testing
  • Track skill mastery with Bayesian Knowledge Tracing and flag learners whose trajectory predicts failure
When to use it
Useful when you have assessment or quiz response data and want an assistant to judge item quality, separate learner ability from test difficulty, check reliability, pick adaptive next questions, or track mastery over a learning history.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint; nothing to install. OAuth 2.1 sign-in with PKCE and dynamic client registration, so the client opens a sign-in page on first use. Works with OAuth-aware clients such as VS Code/GitHub Copilot, Claude, and Claude Code.
Before you install
Requires signing in through OAuth to the provider's service. Assessment response data, including per-learner answers and skill histories, is sent to the remote provider for analysis; check that this is acceptable for student data before use.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Assessment Intelligence in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/ai.saifs%2Fassessment-intelligence/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

README

Assessment Intelligence

Psychometric analysis over assessment response data: Item Response Theory for item difficulty / discrimination / guessing, true ability (θ) separate from test difficulty, Cronbach’s alpha reliability, computerized adaptive next-item selection, and Bayesian Knowledge Tracing of skill mastery. Flags items that measure the wrong thing and learners whose trajectory predicts failure.

Install

VS Code / GitHub Copilot

Add to .vscode/mcp.json (workspace) or your user mcp.json:

json
{  "servers": {    "saifs-assessment-intelligence": {      "type": "http",      "url": "https://assessment-intelligence-mcp.saifs.ai/mcp"    }  }}

Then start the server from the MCP view and sign in when prompted.

Claude (claude.ai, Desktop)

Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and paste:

https://assessment-intelligence-mcp.saifs.ai/mcp

Claude Code

bash
claude mcp add --transport http saifs-assessment-intelligence https://assessment-intelligence-mcp.saifs.ai/mcp

Any other MCP client

Point it at https://assessment-intelligence-mcp.saifs.ai/mcp using the Streamable HTTP transport. The server returns 401 with a WWW-Authenticate: Bearer … resource_metadata=… challenge, so OAuth-aware clients sign in automatically.

Tools

ToolWhat it does
analyze_assessmentPer-item IRT parameters (difficulty, discrimination, guessing) and flags for bad items.
estimate_abilityEach student’s true ability (θ), separate from how hard the test was.
assessment_reliabilityCronbach’s alpha and item-total correlations.
adaptive_next_itemOptimal next question from an item bank given current ability (CAT).
track_masteryBayesian Knowledge Tracing: P(mastered) per skill over a learning history.
flag_at_risk_learnersStudents whose mastery / ability trajectory predicts failure — framed as support, not ranking.
explain_itemWhy an item is good or bad, with its fitted parameters.

Example prompts

  • “Here’s this mock’s response matrix. Which questions have negative discrimination and should be dropped?”
  • “Estimate each student’s true ability on this test, not just their raw percentage.”
  • “From this skill history, who is at risk of failing, and what has each person actually mastered?”
