Remote MCP server for semantic search and citation of Stoic texts by Marcus Aurelius, Seneca and Epictetus.
What you can do
Search the Stoic corpus semantically by theme or topic and get ranked passages with source, book/chapter, entry and score
Fetch a single passage by exact citation (source, book/chapter, entry id)
Retrieve a date-seeded Stoic reflection for the current UTC day, with AI commentary when available
When to use it
Useful when an assistant should quote or cite Stoic philosophy accurately, for example for reflection, journaling prompts, or study of Meditations, Seneca's essays and Epictetus. It is not a general philosophy or essay source: thematic essays on the site are not part of the searchable corpus.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint at stoicsage.ai; no packages, environment variables, headers or authentication are declared.
Before you install
Passages come from modern, copyrighted English translations (Gregory Hays for the Meditations, Robert Dobbin for Epictetus); the server asks that they be quoted briefly and always cited. The daily reflection is the same for all callers on a given UTC date.
Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/ai.stoicsage%2Fstoic-sage/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.
Semantic search across the Stoic corpus (Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epictetus). Returns ranked passages with source, book/chapter, entry, text, and score. Does not cover the thematic essays at /notes — those are HTML pages, not corpus entries. Use get_entry instead when you already know the exact citation.
