Overview

AI-generated overview

Befana lets an assistant suggest store gifts, start a gift for someone, track its status, and help recipients accept, decline or swap it.

What you can do
  • Suggest gifts from verified stores by interests, occasion and price range, with per-person history
  • List people the sender has gifted and upcoming birthdays, anniversaries and holidays
  • Start a gift from a catalog item or product link, returning a link the sender opens to approve and pay
  • Check where sent gifts stand, from awaiting payment to delivered or declined
  • View received gifts and accept, decline or swap them, with the delivery address going only to Befana and the store
  • Read and update the recipient's own gift preferences, and block a sender
When to use it
Useful when someone wants gift ideas for a birthday, holiday or other occasion, or wants to send a real store gift without knowing the recipient's address. Also fits recipients who want to see, accept or swap gifts from their assistant.
Requirements
A remote endpoint at befana.app over streamable HTTP; no packages, environment variables or headers are declared. The sender needs a Befana account to approve and pay for gifts on the site.
Before you install
Gifts are paid for by the sender on the provider's site, not by the tool, so a returned link must be opened and approved deliberately. Calls with save:"save" send answers, save preferences or block a sender; preview first. Recipients' delivery addresses go to Befana and the selling store, and gift preferences are kept private from senders.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Befana Gifting in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/app.befana%2Fbefana/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

find_gifts

Find gifts

Gift ideas: use for any request for a gift or present idea. Suggest store gifts from Befana’s verified stores, by what the person likes, the occasion and a price range. With person_id (from people) it leaves out what the sender already gave them and fits the suggestions to that person. A recipient can pass swap_for with one of their gift ids to see what they could swap it for. Works signed out.

people

People you give to

The people the signed-in sender has sent gifts to through Befana, with what they got and when. Names only: Befana never shares anyone’s address, email or phone. Use a person_id with find_gifts or send_gift.

Takes no parameters.

send_gift

Send a gift

Start a gift for someone. Give a catalog_id from find_gifts (or any product_url from a store), the recipient’s first name, and optionally their email or US mobile so they can see it in their own assistant. save:"preview" (default) shows the gift; save:"save" returns a link the sender opens to approve and pay on befana.app. Nothing is charged by this tool, and the recipient’s address is never asked for: they give it to Befana privately when they accept.

gift_status

Gift status

Where the signed-in sender’s gifts stand: waiting for payment, waiting for the recipient, accepted, ordered, on its way, delivered, or declined. Never shows the recipient’s address or tracking.

Parametersgift_id

upcoming_occasions

Upcoming occasions

Birthdays, anniversaries and holidays coming up from the sender’s Befana reminders, soonest first, with who they are for.

Parametersdays

my_gifts

Gifts for me

Gifts sent to the signed-in person: who they’re from, what they are (unless a surprise), and where they stand. Gifts show up when the sender used this person’s email; otherwise pass the gift link they received as claim_link, once. Never shows what the sender paid.

Parametersclaim_link

respond_to_gift

Answer a gift

Accept a gift (with the delivery address, which goes only to Befana and the store selling the gift), decline it, or swap it for something of similar value from find_gifts with swap_for. save:"preview" (default) shows what will happen; save:"save" sends the answer. The sender sees only that it was accepted or declined, never the address.

Parameterssaveoptionaddressgift_idrequiredswap_toresponserequired

gift_preferences

My gift preferences

What the signed-in person likes, wants to avoid, and their sizes, so gifts sent to them fit. Senders never see these; they only shape the suggestions senders get. Leave everything out to read them; with values, save:"preview" (default) shows the change and save:"save" keeps it.

Parameterssaveavoidlikesnotessizes

block_sender

Block a sender

Stop gifts from the sender of one of the signed-in person’s gifts. Their gifts no longer show up here, and Befana won’t start new gifts from them to this person. The sender isn’t told. save:"preview" (default) first; save:"save" blocks.
