Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted devBoard MCP server that lets an assistant read, create and move project tasks, comment, and track time in a small-team tracker.

What you can do
  • Find and read workspace items, search, personal work lists and saved views
  • Create, update, move and archive tickets
  • Add, edit and delete comments
  • Run the dev loop: start work (assign, move card, start timer, return a branch name) and finish work
  • Start, stop, log, edit and delete time entries and read timesheets
  • Manage personal to-dos and read or mark notifications; admins can create releases, ship releases and create labels
When to use it
Useful when your team tracks work in devBoard and you want an assistant to pick up the task it is working on, open or move cards, leave comments, and log time without switching apps.
Requirements
Remote Streamable HTTP endpoint at api.getdevboard.app; a bearer token sent in the Authorization header, created in the devBoard Mac app under Settings, Developer. The token is bound to one workspace; separate clients need separate tokens. Claude Desktop connects through mcp-remote.
Before you install
The token acts as you with your role and can write: it creates, updates, moves and archives items, edits and deletes comments and time entries, and changes notifications. It cannot delete items or manage members and settings. Revoke tokens in Settings, Developer if leaked; devBoard stores only a hash.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open devBoard in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect Authorization token credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/app.getdevboard%2Fdevboard/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

devBoard MCP server

[smithery badge]

devBoard is a simple project tracker for freelancers and small dev teams: boards, epics, releases and a timer, in an app for iPhone, Android and Mac. This is its MCP server. Connect it once and your AI assistant can read the task it is working on, open new ones, comment, move cards and track your time. It acts as you, in one workspace, with your role.

Quick start

Claude Code:

bash
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user devboard https://api.getdevboard.app/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer <your-token>"

Cursor (~/.cursor/mcp.json):

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "devboard": {      "url": "https://api.getdevboard.app/mcp",      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <your-token>" }    }  }}

VS Code (.vscode/mcp.json, asks for the token once and keeps it out of the file):

json
{  "inputs": [    { "type": "promptString", "id": "devboard-token", "description": "devBoard token", "password": true }  ],  "servers": {    "devboard": {      "type": "http",      "url": "https://api.getdevboard.app/mcp",      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${input:devboard-token}" }    }  }}

Claude Desktop goes through mcp-remote; the exact block is on https://getdevboard.app/mcp.

Then ask: "What's on my plate today?" or "Start APP-42."

It cannot delete items, change workspace settings, or manage members and invites. Those stay in the app.

Safety

  • A token acts as you, with your role. A member's token can do what a member can do and nothing more.
  • A token belongs to one workspace, the one that was open when you made it. Several clients means several tokens.
  • Revoke a token in Settings → Developer and it stops working at once. devBoard stores only a hash of it.
  • Guests can read a workspace but cannot create tokens.

REST without MCP

The same token works on a small REST API at https://api.getdevboard.app/dev/v1: GET me, GET projects, GET items?project=&q=, GET items/{KEY}, GET items/{KEY}/pulls, POST items/{KEY}/status. Guide: https://getdevboard.app/guides/rest-api-from-ci

Pull requests from GitHub

A pull request that mentions an item key (APP-42) in its title, body or branch shows on that item and can move the card when it opens, merges or closes. One webhook per repository: https://getdevboard.app/guides/link-github-pull-requests

As a plugin

This repository is also an Agent Plugins package (plugin.json + mcp.json), so plugin directories such as cursor.directory can import it. The plugin file lists the server URL only. Plugins must not carry secrets, so after installing it add your own token as an Authorization: Bearer <token> header in your client, as shown above.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
