Overview

AI-generated overview

Connects an AI assistant to your Omamo bookmark manager and read-later account so it can find, read, save and organize your links and notes.

What you can do
  • Browse spaces, boards, collections, tags and starred items
  • Search boards, collections, links and notes by their words
  • Read a single link or note, including a note's full text and, on Pro, a link's saved article
  • Save links and create notes in a collection
  • Edit, move, tag or trash items, including bulk moves and tagging of up to 100 items
  • Create and rename boards and collections
When to use it
Useful when you keep bookmarks and read-later items in Omamo and want an assistant to search them, pull up saved articles or notes, and file new links and notes without switching apps.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint at omamo.app/mcp and an Omamo account signed in through OAuth (Google sign-in); no API key to copy. Apps that only run local servers need Node.js and mcp-remote. Team and Enterprise plans require an owner to add the connector first.
Before you install
The app acts as you and sees everything you see, including spaces others share with you. During OAuth you choose whether it may make changes; without that it gets only the read-only tools. Write tools can save, edit, move, tag and trash items, and bulk tools affect up to 100 items at once. Saved pages and notes may contain text written to trick an AI, so keep confirmations on. Access tokens last 15 minutes and can be revoked by disconnecting the app.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Omamo in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/app.omamo%2Fomamo/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

README

Omamo MCP server

Omamo is a bookmark manager and read-later app for the web. Its MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Antigravity, and other AI apps find, read, and save your links and notes.

text
https://omamo.app/mcp

The server is remote and uses Streamable HTTP. You sign in with your Omamo account through OAuth, so there is no key to copy. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way for AI apps to use other services.

This repository holds the setup steps and the server.json of the official MCP Registry entry app.omamo/omamo. Omamo is closed source, so the server code is not here. The full guide is at omamo.app/docs/mcp.

How connecting works

  1. Add the server address in your AI app. The steps for each app are below.
  2. The app opens Omamo in your browser. If you are signed out, sign in with Google.
  3. Omamo shows the app's name and what it asks for. Choose whether it can make changes, then press Allow.
  4. The browser goes back to the app, and the app can use Omamo.

To disconnect an app, open Settings and press Disconnect under Connected apps. The app loses access at once.

Set up your app

Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Type Omamo as the name and https://omamo.app/mcp as the URL.
  3. Choose Connect, then sign in and press Allow.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector first.

Claude Code

sh
claude mcp add --transport http omamo https://omamo.app/mcp

In Claude Code, type /mcp, choose omamo, and choose Authenticate.

ChatGPT

In Settings, under Apps, add a custom app (an MCP server) with the address https://omamo.app/mcp and OAuth sign-in. On some plans, ChatGPT asks you to turn on developer mode first.

Codex

sh
codex mcp add omamo --url https://omamo.app/mcpcodex mcp login omamo

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or to .cursor/mcp.json in a project:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "omamo": {      "url": "https://omamo.app/mcp"    }  }}

In Cursor's MCP settings, choose Connect next to omamo.

VS Code

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json:

json
{  "servers": {    "omamo": {      "type": "http",      "url": "https://omamo.app/mcp"    }  }}

Choose Start above the server. When VS Code asks, sign in.

Antigravity

Open the MCP servers panel, choose the raw configuration, and add this to mcp_config.json:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "omamo": {      "serverUrl": "https://omamo.app/mcp"    }  }}

Apps that run only local servers

Use mcp-remote, which needs Node.js:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "omamo": {      "command": "npx",      "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://omamo.app/mcp"]    }  }}

If you do not let the app make changes, it gets only the first nine tools. The app can never delete spaces, boards, or collections, invite people, empty your trash, or see your plan or account.

Security

  • The app acts as you. It sees what you see in Omamo, including spaces that other people share with you.
  • Access tokens last 15 minutes and work only at https://omamo.app/mcp. Disconnect stops an app at once.
  • An app can make 120 tool calls a minute for you. Your plan's limits apply, as in the app.
  • Saved pages and notes can contain text written to trick an AI. Omamo returns them as data. Keep your app's confirmation on for tools that change things.
  • Deleted links and notes stay in the trash for 30 days, so you can restore them.
