Simple Host
app.simple-hostPublished by simple-host.appOfficial publisherv1.0.1Updated Oct 24, 2026
Publish websites with a small backend (KV, SQLite, files). MCP for AI agents.
Overview
Simple Host lets an AI assistant build, publish and manage small websites with a backend for saved data, lists and visitor sign-in.
- What you can do
- Publish sites: publish a folder or inline files, preview before going live, roll back to kept versions, rename, take offline or delete recoverably
- Manage addresses: assign the site's own subdomain, connect a custom domain with a TXT record, set public or unlisted visibility
- Store data: read and write per-site JSON state with atomic operations, and manage lists such as RSVPs, votes, comments and sign-ups by kind
- Handle visitors: visitor sign-in with Google or emailed code, private submissions, owner edits, CSV download and undo history
- Account and keys: list, create and revoke named or deploy-only API keys, and read per-site visitor analytics
- When to use it
- Useful when you want an assistant to turn a described idea into a live page with a small backend — RSVP forms, sign-up lists, votes or a team site — without setting up hosting yourself. Also suited to hackathon or event sites where non-programmers describe what they want.
- Requirements
- Remote MCP endpoint at simple-host.app/mcp, added as a connector in the AI app. OAuth sign-in is required, with Google or an emailed code, and the user must approve access. No environment variables or headers are declared. Coding-agent skills and self-hosting options exist but are separate from the connector.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Simple Host in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/app.simple-host%2Fmcp/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.Other MCP clients
Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

Simple Host
Open ChatGPT Plugins. Click Add, then choose Add custom MCP server. Name it Simple Host, paste https://simple-host.app/mcp, and save. In the sign-in window, sign in with Google or an email code, then choose Allow. In a chat, pick Simple Host from the + menu, or just ask.
Open Claude, then Settings, then Connectors, then Browse connectors. Search for Simple Host, choose Connect, sign in, then choose Allow. It works on web, desktop, and phone. Claude also lists a Simple Host plugin (Customize → Plugins → Discover) that adds the connector and skills in one step.
Ask your AI app for a website, and it goes live at its own address, https://<site>.<handle>.simple-host.app/, with a place to save things (RSVPs, votes, sign-ups).

The landing page opens with a 25-second film, narrated by the owner, that plays with sound when you click it: add Simple Host to your AI, ask for a site, share the link. Simple Host’s app pages share one blue ink theme, with local fonts, readable body text, and one system light/dark setting. Your published pages keep their own styles. Small-box installs get this shared presentation in their next release.
Get started
Connect Simple Host to your own AI app once, then ask it to build and publish a site. Simple Host hosts and manages the result.
- Chat apps: add the connector
https://simple-host.app/mcpand sign in in the window that opens. Open the native accordion for your app (hash links such as#chatgptopen it): get-started page. - Coding agents: install the skills with
npx skills add vineetu/simple-host. - Claude Code plugin:
/plugin marketplace add vineetu/simple-host, then/plugin install simple-host@simple-host.
Then ask: "Build me a wedding RSVP page and put it online."
Simple Hack
Hackathons, now for everyone. Anyone can build with AI: describe your idea and your AI builds the team site. The best idea wins, not the best coder. Organisers create an event and share one link. College students, product managers, leaders and people who aren’t programmers can take part.
Get started with Simple Hack walks through adding
https://simple-hack.app/mcp to ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, GitHub Copilot or a coding agent.
Sign in once in the browser window with Google or an email code, then choose Allow.
The page has copyable organiser, participant and judge prompts, a short FAQ, and
its existing downloads and skill files under collapsed “Other ways to install”.
For Claude Code and Codex, install the five Hack skills (Node.js required), then add the OAuth connector in your agent:
Features
Publish and versions
- Publish a folder (archive or inline files) in one call. Every publish is a new version.
- Look before it goes live: publish without making it live, open a one-hour preview link, then make it live.
- Roll back to any kept version. Rename a site and old links keep working.
- Take a site offline and back online. Nothing is deleted.
- Delete is recoverable for 7 days from Recently deleted.
- Download a copy of any site. Public, or unlisted: hidden from your person page, and from search engines unless the site has its own domain or name.
- Visitor analytics per site, from server logs, with top pages and referring domains. No tracking script.
Addresses and custom domains
- Every site has its own address and browser origin:
<site>.<handle>.simple-host.app. - Your person address opens your public showcase or an owned site you select.
- Curate the showcase with a plain-text bio, pins and manual order; a live JSON feed lists the same visible projects. Your home page covers the dashboard, connector and small-box installs.
- A free
<name>.simple-host.app, live at once. - Your own domain, subdomain or bare domain. Ownership is proved with one TXT record; the certificate is issued automatically.
wwwand the bare domain are set up together, one redirecting to the other.
Saved data and lists
- Per-site saved data: one JSON document with atomic operations (set, increment, append, remove).
- Lists that visitors add to: comments, RSVPs, votes, sign-ups.
- Every piece of saved data has a kind: Shared (default, public), Page info (owner writes, everyone reads), Submissions (visitors send; private to the owner by default; each visitor sees, changes and withdraws their own; optional email digest), Personal (one private record per visitor) and Shared board (a list a group edits item by item).
- Private Submissions: only signed-in visitors add; the owner reads all, each visitor only their own.
- The owner can delete entries in any list, edit entries in a private list, empty a list, and download it as CSV. Every change to saved data can be undone for 30 days (History, Recently deleted).
Visitor sign-in
- Visitors sign in with Google or an emailed code on the site's own address.
- Saves are made as that visitor. One sign-in covers one site.
- A small
auth.jsclient handles it for the page.
Your account, keys and data
- Sign in with an emailed code or Google.
- Named API keys: list, create and revoke them one at a time. Deploy-only keys for CI; a key unused for 180 days stops working. Sign out everywhere in one step.
- Change your sign-in email, confirmed from both addresses, with a 7-day undo.
- An email after each new sign-in or app connection. Can be turned off.
- Download all your data in one archive. Delete your account for good.
For AI agents
- A connector (MCP) at
https://simple-host.app/mcpwith sign-in, for chat apps and agents. - Skills:
website-deploy,website-deploy-builder,connect-domain. - Plugins for Claude and ChatGPT, and
npx skills add vineetu/simple-hostfor coding agents. llms.txtand a full OpenAPI spec.
Operator tools
- Admin console: disk use, running release, every account and site, API traffic.
- Take down a site or suspend an account without deleting anything; restore later.
- Issue participant accounts. Download all entries.
Self-host, small box, hackathons
- One Go binary, one Postgres, one folder on disk. Runs on 1 CPU and 1 GB of RAM.
- A Docker Compose install for a fresh server (
deploy/install/install.sh). Re-running it upgrades. - Simple Hack: create a hosted hackathon at https://simple-hack.app/ or run the same event platform on your own server. Participants build team sites by describing their ideas to AI. No coding needed.
- A setup helper, https://simple-host.app/setup?product=small-box, writes the install command and settings; docs/advanced/ explains every setting.
- Prefer a managed platform over a VPS? UpCloud, DigitalOcean, Fly.io, Render, Coolify and Railway all have tested guides: docs/platforms/ compares cost and what each one needs.
How it works
- A single Go binary serves every site's files and the REST API.
- Postgres holds accounts, sites, versions and saved data.
- A folder on disk holds the versioned site files.
No object store, no CDN, no build farm. Details: ARCHITECTURE.md and the architecture page.
Run your own
On a company's Kubernetes cluster, run Simple Host Enterprise instead; https://simple-host.app/costs estimates what it costs there (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Open http://localhost:8090 and sign in with that ADMIN_API_KEY (the admin key). Production build:
Configuration and advanced settings
DB_DSN and ADMIN_API_KEY are required; everything else has a default. The setup helper at
https://simple-host.app/setup?product=small-box writes the install command and .env for a small
box. Its questions, client-side validation, generated settings and install commands run in your
browser. It never asks for a password or key and sends none of your choices to a model. Every setting, by area with recipes (stricter sign-in,
shorter retention, a small hackathon box): docs/advanced/.
Start with the configuration entry.
API
Authenticated routes take X-API-Key: <key>. JSON in, JSON out. The full contract is openapi.yaml; a readable version is docs/.
