The vetted directory of paid APIs and MCP servers for AI agents.

Overview

AI-generated overview

A remote directory that lets an assistant search, compare, vet and live-check paid x402 APIs and MCP servers before using them.

What you can do
ToolVet exposes a directory of paid x402 APIs and MCP servers. Free tools list categories, fetch basic facts about a listing, check whether a service is up with uptime history, and scan a remote MCP server's tool definitions for tool poisoning without calling any tool. Paid tools search listings, recommend the best three services for a task, return a full vetting report, and run a preflight check on an x402 URL before payment.
When to use it
Use it when an assistant needs to find a paid API or MCP server for a task, compare options by trust score, price and live status, or verify a service is reachable and its payment challenge looks right before spending money.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint at toolvet.app; no packages, environment variables or headers are declared. Some tools cost money via x402: search_services $0.003, recommend_service $0.01, get_service_report $0.002, preflight_check $0.005.
Before you install
Four tools charge per call through x402, so an assistant can spend money. search_services is rate-limited per IP address. scan_mcp_server connects to third-party MCP servers and reads their tool definitions and instructions. preflight_check sends one unpaid request to an external URL. Sponsored listings appear in search results.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open ToolVet in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/app.toolvet%2Ftoolvet/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

list_categories

List categories

Free. Categories in the directory with how many services each has.

Takes no parameters.

get_service

Get a service (basic)

Free. Basic facts about one listing by id: kind, URL, price, trust score and live status. Use get_service_report for history and security findings.

Parametersidrequired

scan_mcp_server

Scan an MCP server

Free. Connects to a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) the way an agent would, reads its tool definitions and instructions (up to a size limit) without calling any tool, and checks them for tool poisoning: hidden instructions, invisible characters, requests for credential files and more. Returns a grade A to F with findings, and says when part of the definitions was too large to check. Limited per IP.

Parametersurlrequired

get_service_status

Service status

Free. Is a listed service up right now? Its state (up, degraded, down, or unknown when not checked yet), since when, the latest check, uptime over 24 hours, 7 and 30 days, and recent outages, from ToolVet's own checks.

Parametersidrequired

search_services

Search services

Search vetted, live-monitored x402 APIs and MCP servers. Returns listings ranked by relevance, trust score and usage, each with price, live status and how to call it; sponsored listings come in a separate list. For one pick for a task, use recommend_service. Costs $0.003 via x402. Each IP address gets 10 free searches a day.

Parameterskindlimitqueryrequirednetworkmax_price_usd

recommend_service

Recommend a service

Get the best 3 live, trustworthy services for a task, with reasons and call instructions. Use it when you have one concrete task; use search_services to compare more options. Costs $0.01 via x402.

Parameterskindtaskrequirednetworkmax_price_usd

get_service_report

Service vetting report

Full vetting report for one service (uptime, latency, price history, security findings). Takes an id from search or recommend results. Costs $0.002 via x402.

Parametersidrequired

preflight_check

Preflight check an x402 URL

Live-check an x402 URL before paying it: valid challenge, real price, token, pay-to match. Sends one unpaid request to the URL and compares the answer with our records; the verdict is ok, caution or avoid. Costs $0.005 via x402.

Score

83% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
