Overview

AI-generated overview

Mailroom connects an assistant to your own IMAP mailbox so it can list folders, search and read messages, flag or move them, and send email with confirmation.

What you can do
List folders in the connected mailbox and search a folder with criteria such as ALL, UNSEEN or FROM an address, then read a single message by IMAP UID. Flag messages as seen, unseen, flagged or unflagged, or mark them deleted to move them to Trash. Move messages between folders. Send email through SMTP, returning a preview unless confirm=true is passed. Empty the Trash folder permanently, also previewing folder and message count unless confirm=true.
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to triage, search and organize your own mailbox, or draft and send email, from any MCP client without a local mail setup.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint at usemailroom.app over streamable HTTP. An API key from the usemailroom.app dashboard, sent as a bearer token in the Authorization header (a bare key or X-API-Key header also works). The mailbox must be reachable over IMAP and SMTP.
Before you install
The API key is shown only once and grants access to your mailbox; keep it secret. The server can send real email and permanently delete messages: send_email and empty_trash act only with confirm=true, and flagging a message as deleted moves it to Trash, where empty_trash removes it for good. Message content is handled by the remote service.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Mailroom in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect Authorization token credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/app.usemailroom%2Fmailroom/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows
