Overview

AI-generated overview

Lets an assistant search, read, import, create and version household recipes, and read or add items on a shared grocery list.

What you can do
Connects to a household's Brie account to search saved recipes and read their ingredients, directions and source, with support for specific saved versions. It can import a public recipe URL or supplied text as a background job, check that job's status, and create or update recipes as named versions. It also reads the household's private grocery list, including future planned meals, and adds grocery items.
When to use it
Useful when someone wants an assistant to work with their own saved recipes and shopping list: finding a recipe, importing one from a link, saving a revised version, or adding items to the grocery list. It is not a general recipe search engine for the open web.
Requirements
A remote endpoint at api.withbrie.app over streamable HTTP; nothing to install locally. The X-Brie-Capabilities header enables the recipe, grocery and meal-planning tools. OAuth permissions and a personal subscription are required for household operations.
Before you install
The server acts on a real household account: create_recipe, update_recipe, import_recipe and add_grocery_item write data, and updates replace the recipe with the complete submitted version, so omitted parts are removed. Import jobs may need the user to finish them in Brie. Access depends on OAuth permissions and a paid subscription.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Brie — Recipe MCP, Meal Plans & Groceries in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/app.withbrie%2Fbrie/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Parameterslimitqueryrequired

get_recipe

Read a Brie recipe

Read a recipe from the connected household, including ingredients, directions, and source. Supply version_id for a specific saved version or omit it for the current recipe. Display display_text as the current ingredient wording; raw_text is original source wording. Keep version_id, version_revision, and ingredient_id values for update_recipe.

Parametersrecipe_idrequiredversion_id

import_recipe

Import a recipe into Brie

Import a public recipe URL or supplied recipe text when the user asks to save it, preserving its creator and source. Returns a background job; check it with get_import_status. Use create_recipe for a new recipe developed in the conversation.

create_recipe

Save a new recipe to Brie

Save a complete new recipe only after the user asks to save it. Supply ingredients, servings, times, and ordered directions; keep unknown, qualitative, or ranged quantities null and preserve their wording in raw_text. Never invent source facts or macros. Returns the saved recipe immediately; external services prepare its image and optional estimated nutrition in the background. Use get_recipe to check readiness.

Submit the complete revised recipe: omitted ingredients and directions are removed. Map existing ingredient_id values to source_ingredient_id; use null for new ingredients. Keep current display_text and preserve qualitative or ranged quantities as null. Retains the recipe ID, image, source, earlier versions, and versions used by planned meals. External services may prepare optional nutrition and search updates. On version_conflict, read and review again before a new operation; never silently rebase or create a duplicate.
