Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP server that lets an assistant resize, crop, convert, compress, watermark and strip metadata from images, singly or in bulk zips.

What you can do
  • Process images: resize, crop, rotate, flip, compress to a target file size, convert between jpeg, png, webp and avif, strip EXIF and GPS metadata, and add text or logo watermarks.
  • Handle batches: process one image or a zip of up to 50 images, with unsupported files skipped and listed.
  • Upload large files: get a one-hour signed upload URL for images or zips over 3 MB (up to 100 MB) or files already on disk, then pass the returned file_id to processing.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to prepare images for the web or a document — shrinking file size, changing format, cropping to a consistent aspect ratio, removing location metadata, or watermarking a batch of images without local image libraries.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint over streamable HTTP; no packages, environment variables or headers are declared. Large inputs need a signed upload URL and a PUT of the raw bytes with a Content-Length header, or a public https URL.
Before you install
Processing rewrites image content and strips metadata by default, which is irreversible for the output; keep_date and keep_copyright retain only the EXIF date taken and copyright. Download links expire after 24 hours. If a call returns HTTP 402 or an x402 payment request, the assistant is told to ask before paying, so expect possible charges.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Image Tools in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/co.byondr%2Fimage-tools/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

process_images

Process images

Resize, crop, rotate, flip, compress (to a file size with target_bytes), convert (jpeg, png, webp, avif), strip EXIF and GPS metadata from, and watermark (text, logo or both) one image or a zip of up to 50 images (up to 500 files per zip; files that are not supported images are skipped and listed). Crops are in pixels by default; for a zip of different sizes use crop_unit "percent" or crop_aspect, which are worked out per image. Give exactly one source: file_id (from create_upload), url (public https) or data_base64 (up to 3 MB inline; use create_upload, up to 100 MB, or url above that). One image in returns one image; a zip returns a zip. AVIF output is scaled down to fit 1,200 px on the longest side and WebP output to 36 megapixels. Returns a 24-hour download_url with the size and format of every output, and for each output the kinds of metadata found in the input and left in the output (location, date, camera, serial number, ...) and whether the colour profile was kept; kinds only, never the values. keep_date and keep_copyright write back the EXIF date taken and copyright after stripping. Large zips can take up to a minute; use a client timeout of at least 120 s. Free. Daily quotas are counted per caller in output megapixels; see start.md.

create_upload

Create upload URL

Get a one-hour signed upload URL for an image or a zip that is too large to send inline (over 3 MB; up to 100 MB here) or that already sits on disk. PUT the raw bytes to upload_url with a Content-Length header, then pass file_id to process_images. Free.
