Overview

AI-generated overview

AI Rate Card is a remote MCP server that lets an assistant look up, compare and estimate current AI model API prices from 120+ providers.

What you can do
  • Search and read offers: find current model offers by words, model type and limits, get every seller's price for one model, and fetch a cited card for an offer, model or seller.
  • Compare and rank prices: put 2 to 5 models side by side, list the cheapest offers of a model type, and find the cheapest, most expensive or median-priced models for a task.
  • Estimate spend: compute the cost of a token workload at every provider of a model, or the monthly cost of a preset or custom workload.
  • Browse editorial content: list the site's articles on AI model prices, and read ready-made prompt questions.
When to use it
Useful when a user asks what an AI model costs, which provider is cheapest for a given model or task, how two or three models compare on price and context, or what a monthly token workload would cost. Also handy for checking a provider's models file before publishing it to the catalog.
Requirements
Remote streamable HTTP endpoint at airatecard.com; no package, account, API key or environment variable is declared. Network access to the endpoint is needed.
Before you install
Prices are third-party data collected daily: rows flagged as suspect or under review should not be quoted as fact, and special-condition prices (batch, flex, regional, free variants) need that caveat. The server asks assistants to cite its card links rather than itself. validate_provider_files accepts provider file text, which is sent to the service.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open AI Rate Card in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.airatecard%2Fai-rate-card/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Tools

search_offers

Search current AI model offers (one model at one provider = one offer) by words, model type and limits; priced offers first, doubtful prices after sane ones. Each row has offer_id, model_id, provider_id, prices in USD per 1M tokens (or per unit), card_url and a cite line. Next: get_card {"card_id": "offer:<offer_id>"} for one offer, get_model_prices for one model everywhere, estimate_cost / cheapest_for_workload for a cost.

Parameterssortlimitmultiquerycategoryfree_onlymin_contextinput_modalitymax_input_price

get_model_prices

Every seller's current price of one model (an id, or a name to search for), cheapest input first.

Parametersmodelrequired

cheapest_offers

The cheapest current offers (rows: one model at one provider) of one model type, by input price. For the cheapest MODELS of a job (one row per model) use cheapest_models_by_task; for a monthly workload use cheapest_for_workload.

Parameterslimitcategory

compare_models

2 to 5 models side by side: the best current offer of each and, for up to 4, every field compared (lowest and median input/output price, context, max output, providers, regions, a 1M-in/200k-out workload cost), who wins by how many percent, providers selling all, and summary sentences.

Parametersmodelsrequired

estimate_cost

The cost of a workload (input, output and cached input tokens, number of requests) at every current provider of one model, cheapest first, in USD - what the same job costs where.

Parametersmodelrequiredrequestsinput_tokensoutput_tokenscached_input_tokens

get_card

One card with its citation. card_id is '<kind>:<key>': offer:<provider>|<model id as the provider writes it> (e.g. offer:anthropic|claude-opus-4), model:<creator>/<model> (e.g. model:anthropic/claude-opus-4), seller:<provider key> (e.g. seller:anthropic). Ids come from search_offers (offer_id, model_id, provider_id) and from the card_url of every result. Works for every seller, a hidden test seller too.

Parameterscard_idrequired

validate_provider_files

For a provider (seller) joining the catalog: check a models.yaml before putting it online - the same check as the wizard and POST /v1/provider/validate. Give the file's text in `models` (YAML, or the same structure as JSON text); `domain` (the provider's site) makes the model_page checks exact. Returns ok, the problems (file, line, model, path, value, code, message, hint - fix each and call again), the catalog's preview of the models and next_action. No account needed for this check. Publishing needs a signed-in person: the provider_* tools (provider_start -> provider_verify_domain -> provider_check_files -> provider_publish) are on the account server /mcp/account (OAuth sign-in, scope provider), not on this public server; or the wizard at /join, or POST /v1/provider/applications. Templates: /static/templates/models.min.yaml (required fields only) and models.yaml (every field with hints).

cheapest_for_workload

The cheapest offers for a whole monthly workload, ranked by monthly cost in USD: give a preset (a typical job; see list_workload_presets) and/or your own tokens a month. Best offer of each model; free promos and batch/flex/priority/regional prices left out unless asked. Each row: monthly_cost_usd, prices, context, checked_at, card_url and a ready cite line.

list_workload_presets

The ready-made workloads of cheapest_for_workload: name, what job it is, tokens a month, context needed, model type.

Takes no parameters.

list_articles

AI Rate Card's articles on AI model prices (the cheapest models by task, price moves, costs), newest first, with their links - to quote or point a reader to.

Parameterslang

cheapest_models_by_task

The n cheapest MODELS for a job (task): each model counted once at its own lowest current price (input tokens by default). One row per model with that price, where it is and card_url.

Parametersntaskrequiredscopecomponent

most_expensive_models_by_task

The n most expensive MODELS for a job (task): each model counted once at its own lowest current price, highest first - the top of the market. Same arguments as cheapest_models_by_task.

Parametersntaskrequiredscopecomponent

median_price_by_task

The typical (median) current price of a job (task) across models, and the n models closest to it - what a normal price for this job is. Same arguments as cheapest_models_by_task.
