Overview

AI-generated overview

Lets an assistant screen US-listed stocks for Sharia compliance and see when each verdict last changed.

What it does
A hosted MCP server that screens US-listed tickers against an AAOIFI-style financial screen covering business activity, interest-bearing debt and cash versus market cap, and interest income versus revenue. Its check_halal_stock tool returns a verdict (passes financial screen, needs review, or not halal), each check with its ratio, and the verdict's change history. A second tool lists stocks that recently cleared or broke the screen, with dates.
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to answer questions like whether a given US ticker passes a Sharia compliance screen, or which stocks recently changed status, without leaving the chat. Suited to research and screening, not to replacing a scholar's ruling or financial advice.
Requirements
A remote HTTP endpoint at the provider's hosted address; nothing to install and no API key or account is declared. Network access is required, and coverage is limited to US-listed stocks.
Before you install
Verdicts are automated estimates, not a fatwa or financial advice, and a pass is deliberately not the same as halal because minor non-compliant revenue lines are not itemised. Debt and cash tests are measured against market cap, so a verdict can change on share price alone. Requests go to the provider's hosted service, which uses third-party financial data.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Barakah Halal Stock Screen in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

README

Barakah Halal Stock Screen — MCP server

Ask your AI assistant whether a stock is halal, and get a dated answer.

A hosted Model Context Protocol server from Barakah Profits. It screens listed companies for Sharia compliance and, unlike most screeners, tells you when the verdict last changed — from a public, dated verdict ledger.

Nothing to install, no API key.

Then ask: "Is NVDA halal?" or "Which stocks changed halal status recently?"

Method

AAOIFI-style screen:

  • Business activity — core business must not be interest-based finance, alcohol, tobacco, gambling, pork, adult content or weapons.
  • Interest-bearing debt under 30% of market cap.
  • Cash and interest-bearing securities under 30% of market cap.
  • Interest income under 5% of revenue.

"Passes financial screen" is deliberately not "halal": revenue from minor non-compliant business lines isn't itemised in filings data, so confirm the revenue mix before investing. Because the debt and cash tests are measured against market cap, a company can cross the line on share price alone — which is why the verdict history matters.

This is an automated estimate, not a fatwa, and not financial advice.
