Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP server giving assistants measured car-hire costs at 120+ airports, including second-driver fees, deposits, debit-card acceptance and desk hours.

What you can do
  • Check coverage, freshness and what is measured, and list measured airports with typical daily prices, filterable by country
  • Get one airport's real cost: car only, with a second driver, with full cover, automatic or no-deposit, by pick-up month, plus deposits, debit-card acceptance, desk hours and out-of-hours fees
  • Rank airports by real cost, typical deposit, debit-card friendliness or late desk hours
  • Compare suppliers at a single airport on price, second-driver fee, cover price, deposit, debit cards and desk review scores
  • Build a link for the person to open, showing live prices for their dates ranked by total cost
When to use it
Useful when someone asks where or when car hire is cheapest, what a rental will really cost beyond the headline price, which supplier holds the smallest deposit, or which desks stay open for a late flight.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no API key, login or account is needed. Stdio-only clients need a local bridge such as npx mcp-remote. Network access to the provider's endpoint is required.
Before you install
Figures are dated aggregates, not live quotes; live prices and booking happen through the returned link, which goes to a booking partner where the provider earns a commission. The tools are read-only and take no personal data, and searches are logged without names or contact details.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Car Rental Brain in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.carrentalbrain%2Fcar-rental-brain/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

[Car Rental Brain]

Car Rental Brain MCP server

The real cost of car hire, for AI assistants. Second-driver fees, deposits, debit-card acceptance, desk hours and what excess cover really costs, measured at 120+ airports in Europe, the UK and the US, plus a link to live prices ranked by the total a person will actually pay.

Free. No API key. No login. Read-only.

Why it exists

Car-hire search shows the headline price. The bill at the desk is different: a second driver adds a fee, the desk blocks a deposit on the card, many desks refuse debit cards, some close before a late flight lands, and the desk sells its own excess cover. Car Rental Brain measures these from its own repeated searches and answers with the numbers, so an assistant can say what a rental will really cost - not just what it is advertised at.

How the numbers are made

Each airport is searched repeatedly across trip lengths and pick-up months; a report is published only once enough searches agree. Second-driver fees are the suppliers' own quoted fees (a fee nobody publishes is never counted as free). Desk excess-cover prices come only from each supplier's own published price list, with the source and the date read. Full method: carrentalbrain.com/methodology.

Affiliate disclosure

Car Rental Brain is free. Booking happens on DiscoverCars through the link the tools return, and Car Rental Brain earns a commission on bookings, at no extra cost to the person booking. Results are ranked by the total the person will pay, never by commission.
