Overview

AI-generated overview

CedarGrant lets an assistant list open U.S. federal grant notices from Grants.gov and get a kit for drafting or reviewing grant applications.

What you can do
  • Find open federal grant notices, filtered by keyword across title, agency and summary, sorted by soonest deadline.
  • Get a drafting kit for writing a grant application to a federal notice or to an announcement the user supplies.
  • Review an existing draft against an announcement's requirements.
When to use it
Useful when someone is searching for federal funding opportunities open to organizations, or wants help drafting or checking a grant application against a specific announcement.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint at cedargrant.com over streamable HTTP; no packages, environment variables or headers are declared. Coverage is limited to notices CedarGrant covers, refreshed daily.
Before you install
The listing excludes NIH, forecasted, invitation-only, scholarship and fellowship opportunities, so it is not a complete view of federal funding. Drafting and review output is assistance, not an official submission; verify deadlines and requirements on Grants.gov.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open CedarGrant in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.cedargrant%2Ffederal-grants/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

find_open_grants

Find open federal grant notices

Lists open federal grant notices that CedarGrant covers (posted on Grants.gov, open to organizations; not NIH, forecasted, invitation-only, scholarships or fellowships), refreshed daily, soonest deadline first. Filter by keyword (searched in title, agency and summary, for example 'museum', 'mentoring', 'wildfire'), funding category, the applicant types the notice lists, days until it closes, maximum award size and whether the notice says cost sharing is required. Returns each notice's number, agency, close date, award range as stated, and its official Simpler.Grants.gov page. Applicant types are as the notice lists them, not a judgement of eligibility.

get_drafting_kit

Get the CedarGrant drafting kit for a federal grant notice

Use when the user wants help with a grant application: drafting one for a federal notice on Grants.gov or Simpler.Grants.gov, drafting one from an announcement they bring themselves (state, local, foundation or other funder), or reviewing their own draft against the announcement's requirements and review criteria before they submit (a Requirements Map, and Criteria Notes built from the announcement's own criteria; never a score). Returns CedarGrant's drafting kit (early access, free): step-by-step instructions to check that the notice is open and covered, read the official notice and its files yourself, ask the user a few questions and write a complete draft in the notice's required format. CedarGrant does not read the documents, see the user's answers or the draft, or store anything.
