Overview

AI-generated overview

DocketTrail lets an assistant search and read US state healthcare transaction reviews, certificate-of-need projects and nonprofit facility notices, with…

What you can do
  • Search proceedings by state, program and status, with parties, agency, stage and latest event
  • Open one transaction to see every state proceeding, its dated event trail, documents and observed changes
  • List recent changes: new proceedings, changed agency wording, new events and documents
  • Find organizations by name or slug and see their transactions and filing names across states
  • Get review outcome and duration statistics per program
When to use it
Useful when tracking healthcare mergers, acquisitions, affiliations or facility projects that go through state review, or when you need agency-sourced records and change history rather than news summaries. Also suited to checking how reviews in a program typically end and how long they take.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no package or local runtime. No authentication is declared, but an optional founding key is sent as an Authorization Bearer header to unlock all filters, larger pages, full change history and higher limits. Without a key: 25 records per page, 60 requests an hour per address, last 30 days of changes.
Before you install
Coverage is limited to specific states and programs, and absence from the data is not evidence that no review exists. Results are public agency records, not legal advice. Change dates reflect when DocketTrail observed a change, not when it happened. A founding key is a credential and should be kept private.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open DocketTrail in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.dockettrail%2Fdockettrail/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Search proceedings

List healthcare transaction reviews, certificate-of-need projects and nonprofit health facility notices (one row per state proceeding, newest development first): parties as filed, the agency and program, its status in its own words, stage, latest dated event, the agency page (source_url) and the DocketTrail page (url). Filter by state, program and status; a founding key adds org, agency, q (keyword) and since. Use get_proceeding for one transaction in full. Covers healthcare transaction reviews (OR, CA, MA), certificate-of-need projects (WA, IA, IL, FL) and nonprofit health facility notices (CA) only (see https://dockettrail.com/coverage for what is tracked and what was checked and not tracked). Every result is a public agency record, in the agency's own words, with source_url (the agency page it was read from) and the day DocketTrail observed it (observed_day, first_seen_at, last_checked_at; UTC). Nothing here is legal advice, and absence from the data is not a claim that no review exists.

get_proceeding

Get a proceeding

One transaction by the slug of its DocketTrail page (the transaction_slug of a search result): every state proceeding in it with the agency's wording and source link, the full trail of dated events (as the agency published or printed them), documents, and the changes DocketTrail observed. Nothing here is legal advice, and absence from the data is not a claim that no review exists.

list_changes

List changes

What changed, newest first: new proceedings, the agency's wording changed (before and after, verbatim), new events, new documents. Dated by the day DocketTrail observed the change on a check of the agency's page, not the day it happened. Without a key: the last 30 days, filtered by state, program and kind. A founding key reads the full history and adds org, agency, q and since. Nothing here is legal advice, and absence from the data is not a claim that no review exists.

find_organization

Find an organization

Find an organization by name (its canonical name or any name it files under, as the agency printed it), or open one by slug to see its transactions, the names it files under in each state and how each was matched. Organizations are linked across states only from a reviewed list, never by a name that looks alike. Nothing here is legal advice, and absence from the data is not a claim that no review exists.

review_stats

How reviews go

How reviews end and how long they take, computed from the records: per program, outcomes in the agency's own words with counts, shares (waived, taken to a cost and market impact review, approved with conditions, follow-up reviews) and durations in days (median, 25th to 75th percentile, range, n) over proceedings carrying both agency dates; deals reviewed in more than one state; the organizations in the most proceedings. Where n is under 5 the cases are listed instead of a median. Each figure names the list (href) behind it; the method is at https://dockettrail.com/stats#method. Every result points at the records it was computed from (href), each of which carries its source_url. Nothing is estimated or predicted.
