Overview

AI-generated overview

Faxbeep gives an assistant free public test fax numbers and email addresses, then lists and reads the test faxes Faxbeep received.

What you can do
  • Get the test fax numbers (US, UK, Australia), test email addresses, limits and server time
  • List received test faxes since a given time, newest first, with optional sender and page count filters
  • Read one test fax by slug or page URL, including page 1 as an image and links to the PDF and page
  • Return fixed sample faxes for trying the connection without sending anything
When to use it
Useful when someone wants to check that a fax machine, a fax service or a scan-to-email setup works, and wants the assistant to confirm whether the test arrived and show the received pages.
Requirements
Remote Streamable HTTP endpoint at faxbeep.com/mcp; no authentication, no API key and no local package. The person still needs a way to send the test, such as a fax machine or a fax sending service, since Faxbeep only receives.
Before you install
Every received test is public on faxbeep.com for 30 days, including its pages, so private documents should not be sent. A match by time, sender or page count does not prove a fax is the user's, because others send tests at the same time; the page should be checked. The server is read-only and does not send faxes.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Faxbeep in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.faxbeep%2Ffaxbeep/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Faxbeep MCP server

[Faxbeep MCP connector - tool definition quality and endpoint health on Glama]

Test a fax machine, a fax service or a scan-to-email setup from your AI agent. Faxbeep gives free public test fax numbers and test email addresses. Send a test to one, then ask your agent whether it arrived.

https://faxbeep.com/mcp

Remote server, Streamable HTTP, no authentication. Read-only.

Every test that Faxbeep receives is public on faxbeep.com for 30 days. Do not send a private document.

Add it to your chat app

  • Claude: Customize > Connectors > Add custom connector. Name Faxbeep, URL https://faxbeep.com/mcp, no sign in.
  • ChatGPT: turn on developer mode in the Apps settings, then create an app with the URL https://faxbeep.com/mcp and no authentication.

Menus change often. The docs have the current steps.

Add it to a coding agent

sh
# Claude Codeclaude mcp add --transport http faxbeep https://faxbeep.com/mcp
# Codexcodex mcp add faxbeep --url https://faxbeep.com/mcp

Cursor: put this in ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or in .cursor/mcp.json in a project:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "faxbeep": {      "url": "https://faxbeep.com/mcp"    }  }}

Add it to Gemini CLI

Install the extension from this repository:

sh
gemini extensions install https://github.com/faxbeep/faxbeep-mcp --ref main

Use /mcp to check the connection and see the three tools. The --ref main is needed: without it, the installer takes a release, and a release holds only the ChatGPT package.

Add it to Antigravity

The Antigravity plugin package connects to the hosted server. See its installation instructions.

Tools

ToolWhat it does
get_test_numbersThe test fax numbers (US, UK, Australia), the test email addresses, the limits, and now, the server time
list_test_faxesThe test faxes received since a time, newest first. Filters: sender, page count, limit
get_test_faxOne test fax, by its slug (fax_1a2b3c4d) or by the URL of its page on faxbeep.com

Each result gives the sender (masked as on faxbeep.com), the time received, the page count, and links to the PDF, the thumbnail and the page of the fax.

A match by time, sender or page count narrows the candidates. It does not prove that a fax is yours, because other people send tests at the same time. Check the page.

Example

I want to test the fax machine at the office. Give me a number, and tell me when my fax arrives.

The agent calls get_test_numbers, gives you a number, and notes the server time. You send the fax. The agent calls list_test_faxes with that time and shows you the page of each new fax, so you can find yours.

To try the connection without sending anything, ask for the fax fax_example. It is a fixed sample, not a real fax.

Faxbeep does not send faxes

Faxbeep only receives. To send a test without a fax machine, use a fax sending service, for example PayPerFax, which has its own MCP server.

Documentation

About this repository

This repository documents the hosted server. The server code is not open source. server.json is the entry in the official MCP registry as com.faxbeep/faxbeep. Its version counts the versions of that registry entry. It is not the version that the server reports.

The files in this public repository are available under the MIT License. That license does not cover the hosted server, which is not included here.

get_test_numbers

Get the test numbers

Get the Faxbeep test fax numbers, the test email addresses and the limits. Call this first, before the person sends a test. Each item of "numbers" is a test fax number: "local_format" is the number to dial inside its country, "international_format" from any other country. The person sends a fax to it from a fax machine or a fax service. Each item of "email_addresses" takes an email with one PDF, TIFF or JPEG attachment, for a scan-to-email or Internet fax test. "email_addresses" is left out while the email test is off. Every test that Faxbeep receives is public on faxbeep.com for 30 days. Tell the person not to send a private document. "limits" has the limits of the email test: "email_max_message_bytes" is the size of the whole email, and email encoding adds about a third, so the attachment can be about three quarters of it. "troubleshooting_url" is the docs page with each refusal message of the email test and its fix. "now" is the server time. Use it as "since" of list_test_faxes: call this tool, or take "now" from your last result, just before the person sends the test. Do not use your own clock.

Takes no parameters.

list_test_faxes

List received test faxes

List the test faxes that Faxbeep received and published, newest first. The list is public and holds the tests of everyone. Each item of "faxes" is a fax object: slug, source ("phone" or "email"), from (the sender, masked as on faxbeep.com, or null), received_at, page_count, file_size, pdf_url, thumbnail_url and view_url (the page of the fax on faxbeep.com). In the result, "since" is the start time that was used, and "now" is the server time. The result holds at most "limit" faxes (20 when not given), newest first, with no paging. When "faxes" has "limit" items, there can be more: narrow the list with from, page_count or a since closer to the test. Set "since" to the "now" value that get_test_numbers or list_test_faxes returned just before the person sent the test, and keep it fixed while you poll. Do not use your own clock. Do not move since to the newest received_at: a long fax can appear after a newer, shorter one. Without "since", the list covers the last 24 hours. A match by time, sender or page count narrows the candidates. It does not prove that a fax is the person's, because other people send tests at the same time. Show the person the view_url so they can check the page. In a chat that shows images, also show thumbnail_url as an image in your answer. An empty list is a normal answer while a fax is on its way. A new fax usually appears within a minute after the call ends or the email is sent; a few take longer. Wait about 30 seconds between calls, and stop after about 10 minutes. A fax is public for 30 days, then it is removed. For a sample answer, set from to FAXBEEP-EXAMPLE: the result is the sample fax fax_example, whatever since says. The sample has a fixed date in the past, older than 30 days, and it stays available.

Parametersfromlimitsincepage_count

get_test_fax

Get a test fax

Get one test fax by its slug (fax_ and 8 characters from 0-9 and a-f, for example fax_1a2b3c4d) or by the URL of its page on faxbeep.com (view_url, with or without a language prefix such as /de). The result is the fax object, the same as an item of list_test_faxes, and after it an image of page 1 when one can be read. A client can draw that image very small. In a chat that shows images, also show thumbnail_url as an image in your answer. Give view_url for the full page. A fax that is not found gives an error result: a new fax can take a while to appear, and a fax that is still processing is not found yet. A fax that was removed, by request or after 30 days, gives the error result "This fax was removed, or it is older than 30 days." Its files are deleted, so it cannot be read again. For a sample answer, use fax_example (a published sample fax) or fax_example_removed (the answer for a removed fax).
