Overview

AI-generated overview

FixMyScan converts scanned book PDFs and DjVu files into clean, searchable PDFs for Kindle and e-readers, with previews, status checks and download links.

What you can do
  • Convert a scanned PDF or DjVu book into a cleaned, searchable PDF for e-readers
  • Create an upload link so the user can send a file the assistant cannot pass directly
  • Preview before-and-after images of sample pages before converting
  • Check conversion progress and get the download link when a book is ready
  • List recent books, cancel a running conversion, or delete a book's files
When to use it
Useful when a user has a scanned book or document that they want cleaned up, OCR'd and made searchable for a Kindle, Kobo or similar e-reader, especially when the file is too large or cannot be attached to the chat.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint; no local package, account, API key or environment variable is declared. The user needs a scanned PDF or DjVu file (up to 1,000 pages) to upload or pass in.
Before you install
Uploaded books are sent to a third-party service and stored there; files are deleted 24 hours after a book is ready, and delete_scan removes them immediately and cannot be undone. Cancel and delete actions should only be taken when the user asks.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open FixMyScan in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.fixmyscan%2Ffixmyscan/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

fix_scan

Fix a scanned book

Turn a scanned book (PDF or DjVu, up to 1,000 pages) into a clean, searchable PDF for e-readers: pages cropped to the text, straightened, sharp black and white, two-page spreads split, and searchable text added. Use it when the user wants to fix, clean up, OCR or convert a scan for a Kindle, Kobo, reMarkable or tablet. Give exactly one source: file (a file the user attached here), source_url (a public https link to the file) or upload_id (from create_upload_link, after the user uploaded). It returns a scan_id at once and the book converts in the background; then call get_scan_status until it is ready and give the user the download link.

preview_scan

Preview a scan

Show what FixMyScan will do before converting: before-and-after images of 3 pages of the user's own book. Use it when the user wants to see the result first. Give the same source as fix_scan, or the scan_id of a book not yet converted. The first call returns at once; call again with the scan_id after about ten seconds for the images. To convert after the preview, call fix_scan with upload_id set to the scan_id.

get_scan_status

Check a book

Check one book: its stage, pages done of the total, and the download link once it is ready. Use it after fix_scan or preview_scan, or when the user asks how their book is doing. While a book is converting, call again every 10 to 20 seconds.

Parametersscan_idrequired

list_my_scans

List my books

List the user's recent books on FixMyScan with their state, and download links for finished ones. Use it when the user asks about their books or you need a scan_id. Files are deleted 24 hours after a book is ready.

Takes no parameters.

cancel_scan

Stop a book

Stop a book that is converting or waiting to start. Use it only when the user asks to stop or cancel it. A cancelled book does not count as used.

Parametersscan_idrequired

delete_scan

Delete a book

Delete a book's upload and finished files from FixMyScan now, rather than after 24 hours. Use it only when the user asks to delete the book. This cannot be undone.
