Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted Flowsimp server that turns Mermaid syntax or an indented outline into a shareable, editable flowchart link.

What you can do
  • Create diagrams from text: build a flowchart or network diagram from Mermaid syntax or an indented outline, with an optional title, and get back a read-only share link, an editable board link, and node and connection counts.
  • Browse starter diagrams: list the built-in templates (flowchart, process, swimlane, decision tree, user flow, org chart, network, mind map) with a link that opens each in the editor.
When to use it
Useful when steps or a process already exist as text and you want a diagram someone can view or edit, or when a built-in template is a better starting point than generating one from scratch. Good for quick process, decision-tree, user-flow and network sketches shared by link.
Requirements
Remote Streamable HTTP endpoint at flowsimp.com; no account, API key or authentication settings. Clients that only support local stdio servers need the mcp-remote bridge via npx or the included Dockerfile. Network access required.
Before you install
Diagrams are encoded in the returned links, so anyone holding a link can view or edit the board; treat links as shareable content. Input text is capped at 16,000 characters and calls are rate limited per IP. The service is stateless and does not store diagrams.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Flowsimp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.flowsimp%2Fflowsimp/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

[Flowsimp]

Flowsimp MCP Server

Create flowcharts from chat. Flowsimp's hosted Model Context Protocol server turns Mermaid flowchart syntax or a plain indented outline into a shareable diagram link and an editable board in the Flowsimp editor.

  • Endpoint: https://flowsimp.com/mcp
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP (remote)
  • Auth: none, no API key or account needed
  • Price: completely free to use
  • Registry name: com.flowsimp/flowsimp in the official MCP Registry
  • Docs: https://flowsimp.com/mcp

The server is stateless. It does not store your diagrams, because each diagram is encoded in the link it returns. Open the editable link to rearrange shapes, edit text, and export PNG or SVG.

This repository holds the public documentation and the registry metadata (server.json, .mcp.json) for the hosted server.

Tools

ToolWhat it does
create_flowchartBuilds a flowchart from Mermaid flowchart syntax or an indented outline (up to 16,000 characters). Optional title, and optional mode: flowchart (default) or network. Returns a read-only shareUrl, an editable editUrl, and the node and connection counts.
list_templatesLists the built-in templates (flowchart, process, swimlane, decision tree, user flow, org chart, network, mind map) with a link that opens each one in the editor.

Example create_flowchart input:

json
{  "text": "flowchart TD\n  A[Start] --> B{Approved?}\n  B -->|Yes| C[Ship it]\n  B -->|No| D[Revise]",  "title": "Release check"}

Example result (links shortened):

json
{  "shareUrl": "https://flowsimp.com/view#…",  "editUrl": "https://flowsimp.com/?board=…",  "nodeCount": 4,  "connectionCount": 3,  "title": "Release check"}

An indented outline works too:

text
Customer submits order Payment approved? Yes: Pack and ship No: Email customer

Connect a client

Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)

Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, name it Flowsimp, and paste:

https://flowsimp.com/mcp

No authentication settings are needed.

Claude Code

bash
claude mcp add --transport http flowsimp https://flowsimp.com/mcp

Cursor

Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (global) or .cursor/mcp.json (project):

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "flowsimp": {      "url": "https://flowsimp.com/mcp"    }  }}

VS Code (GitHub Copilot agent mode)

Add to .vscode/mcp.json:

json
{  "servers": {    "flowsimp": {      "type": "http",      "url": "https://flowsimp.com/mcp"    }  }}

ChatGPT

In workspaces or plans that support custom MCP connectors (developer mode), create a connector with the URL https://flowsimp.com/mcp and no authentication. You can also add a GPT Action from the OpenAPI description at https://flowsimp.com/openapi.json.

Clients that only support local (stdio) servers

Use the mcp-remote bridge:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "flowsimp": {      "command": "npx",      "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://flowsimp.com/mcp"]    }  }}

Or build the included Dockerfile, which runs the same bridge in a container:

docker build -t flowsimp-mcp .docker run -i --rm flowsimp-mcp

Example prompts

  • "Make a flowchart of our customer refund process and give me the Flowsimp link."
  • "Turn this Mermaid code into an editable diagram: …"
  • "Draw a decision tree for whether to approve a vacation request."
  • "Map the user sign-up flow for a mobile app, from landing page to first login."
  • "Show me the Flowsimp templates, then start me on a swimlane diagram."
  • "Create a simple network diagram: router, firewall, two web servers, and a database."

HTTP API

The same create action is available without MCP:

bash
curl -X POST https://flowsimp.com/api/flowchart \  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \  -d '{"text": "flowchart TD\n  A[Start] --> B[Next]"}'

The OpenAPI description is at https://flowsimp.com/openapi.json.

Limits

  • Text input is capped at 16,000 characters.
  • Calls are rate limited per IP.

create_flowchart

Create flowchart

Turn Mermaid flowchart or graph syntax, or an indented outline, into FlowSimp links. Use it when the steps already exist as text and someone needs a diagram they can view or edit. Returns JSON with shareUrl (a read-only /view# link), editUrl (opens the editor at /?board=), nodeCount, and connectionCount. An optional title is echoed in that JSON; it is not drawn on a shape. The diagram is compressed into the link, so nothing is stored and the call does not write to a database. Only flowchart and graph syntax are accepted. Other Mermaid types are refused. Text is limited to 16,000 characters and about 80 shapes.

Parametersmodetextrequiredtitle

list_templates

List templates

List every built-in FlowSimp template. Use it when a starter diagram is a better fit than generating one from text. Takes no arguments. Returns JSON with a templates array of id, label, and editUrl. The ids are swimlane, decision-tree, user-flow, org-chart, flowchart, process, network, mind-map, data-flow, algorithm, bpmn, onboarding, and approval. Each editUrl opens that template in the editor. The list is fixed, and the call does not store or change anything.

Takes no parameters.
