Remote MCP server to read and edit GanttFather projects: tasks, dates, dependencies, critical path.
Overview
Remote MCP server that lets an assistant read and edit GanttFather Gantt chart projects: tasks, dates, dependencies, resources and the critical path.
- What you can do
- List projects, read a project, its summary, timeline, tasks, dependencies, resources and members
- Find overdue tasks and compute the project's critical path
- Render the chart as an SVG or Mermaid image, or show an interactive Gantt widget
- Create and update tasks, set assignees, dependencies and reorder tasks
- Add, update or delete resources, attach images to tasks, and update project context
- Draft a support email without sending it
- When to use it
- Useful when you plan or track work in GanttFather and want an assistant to inspect schedules, spot overdue items and the critical path, or make bulk task and dependency changes through chat instead of the web UI.
- Requirements
- A hosted remote endpoint over streamable HTTP; nothing to install. Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration and PKCE (scopes mcp:read and mcp:write); clients without OAuth can send a GanttFather project token as an Authorization Bearer header. A GanttFather account with access to the projects is required; the free plan covers one project with two editors.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open GanttFather in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.ganttfather%2Fganttfather/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.Other MCP clients
Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

GanttFather MCP server
A remote Model Context Protocol server for GanttFather, an online Gantt chart and Kanban tool. It lets an AI assistant read and edit your GanttFather projects: tasks, dates, dependencies, resources, the critical path, and the chart itself.
This repository holds documentation and the registry entry only. The server is hosted; there is nothing to install or run.
- URL:
https://mcp.ganttfather.com/ - Transport: streamable HTTP
- Sign-in: OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration and PKCE (S256), scopes
mcp:readandmcp:write. Clients that can't do OAuth can send a project token from GanttFather (AI Agents & API) asAuthorization: Bearer <token>. - Official MCP Registry:
com.ganttfather/ganttfather - Docs and setup guides: https://ganttfather.com/mcp/
- Price: free for one project with two editors; viewers and guests are free.
Add it to your client
The quickest way is to add the URL as a remote server and sign in when your client asks.
Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app): Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, then paste https://mcp.ganttfather.com/.
Claude Code
VS Code (GitHub Copilot Chat), in .vscode/mcp.json:
GitHub Copilot CLI
Then run /mcp auth ganttfather inside Copilot CLI.
Cursor, in ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
Windsurf and Antigravity, in mcp_config.json (they read serverUrl):
Codex
Gemini CLI, in settings.json (it needs httpUrl; a plain url means an older transport there):
OpenCode, in opencode.json, then run opencode mcp auth ganttfather:
Guides for ChatGPT, Gemini, Goose, n8n and others are at https://ganttfather.com/mcp/. Of the clients above, we have tested Claude end to end; reports from the others are welcome in Issues.
Tools
27 tools. Every tool sets readOnlyHint, destructiveHint and openWorldHint explicitly; writes that can overwrite or remove data are marked destructive, so your client can ask before running them.
Privacy and support
The assistant sees only the projects the signed-in account can see, and you can revoke its access at any time in GanttFather, under AI Agents & API. Privacy policy: https://ganttfather.com/privacy/. Support: [email protected].

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
