Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint; a Shareglow API key sent as an Authorization Bearer token, created in the Shareglow dashboard. A local stdio variant runs via npx and needs Node 22 or newer, with the key in SHAREGLOW_API_KEY or --api-key.
Before you install
The API key is a live secret passed through to the Shareglow REST API, so plan and rate limits apply and key scopes must cover each tool. Tools create short links, render images and trigger re-scraping of pages, and AI template creation consumes the plan's AI quota; paid plans are needed for expiring signed image URLs. Scanned URLs are forwarded to Shareglow and must be public http/https hosts.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Shareglow in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect Authorization token credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

shareglow-mcp

MCP server for Shareglow: scan link previews, generate Open Graph images, create short links with their own preview, and read click stats from any MCP client.

It is a thin client of the Shareglow REST API (/v1). Your API key is passed straight through, so plan limits and rate limits apply unchanged. The server holds no credentials of its own.

The key can also be passed as --api-key sk_live_.... SHAREGLOW_API_URL points the server at another REST base (default https://app.getshareglow.com).

Errors and limits

  • Each tool needs the key scope of its REST call. A key without it gets 403 insufficient_scope.
  • REST 401, 402, 403 and 429 become MCP tool errors (isError: true) that carry the API's message.
  • URLs are validated before forwarding (http/https, no private or local hosts).
  • Tool results are truncated at 20,000 characters. The API key is redacted from every result and error.
