Overview

AI-generated overview

Stash is a remote MCP server that lets an assistant search, read, save, summarize and ask questions across notes in the Stash AI notebook for iPhone.

What you can do
Search and open saved notes, reading the summarized note before quoting it, and save new notes that the server summarizes in the background. Ask questions across your notes with answers drawn only from them, without web search (Stash Pro). Update, delete and research notes, plus check the signed-in account. Bundled skills group these tools into search, summarize and ask workflows.
When to use it
Useful when you keep links, screenshots, photos and rough thoughts in Stash and want an assistant to find, quote or add to them, or to answer questions from what you have saved.
Requirements
A remote endpoint run by Grafted Software; no local code. A Stash account from the App Store signed in with Apple or Google, and OAuth consent on first tool call using the same account. Free accounts can search, read and save; Ask requires Stash Pro.
Before you install
Notes are encrypted at rest but not zero-knowledge: the server decrypts them to run tools. To summarize, research and answer, note text is sent to Anthropic via OpenRouter, and up to 2,000 characters of a note go to TypeSafe (Jev) via OpenRouter to decide on web search. Tools can update and delete notes; the README says skills do so only when you name and confirm the note. Free accounts get 30 summaries and 5 research reports per month.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Stash: Remember Everything in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.graftedsoftware%2Fstash/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

README

Stash

Stash is an AI notebook for iPhone. Share anything into it, such as a link, a screenshot, a photo, or a rough thought, and the Stash server turns it into a structured note with a title, summary, sections, tags, and sources. This plugin lets Claude read and add to that notebook.

What you can do

  • Search your notes. "Find what I saved about the Hawaii trip."
  • Open a note. Claude reads the summarized note before quoting it.
  • Save a note. "Stash this: renew the car registration next month." The server summarizes it once, in the background.
  • Ask across your notes (Stash Pro). "What did I save about flights?" Answers come only from your notes, with no web search.
SkillTools it calls
searchstash_search, stash_get
summarizestash_create, stash_get
askstash_ask

The server also exposes stash_me, stash_update, stash_delete, and stash_research. The skills only update or delete a note when you name that note and confirm.

Setup

  1. Get Stash from the App Store and sign in with Apple or Google.
  2. Install this plugin. The first time Claude calls a Stash tool, it opens a Stash sign-in page. Use the same Apple or Google account as the app.
  3. On the consent screen, review the scopes and select Allow.

Free accounts can search, read, and save notes. A free account gets 30 summaries and 5 research reports per month, resetting on the 1st (UTC). Ask needs Stash Pro.

What this plugin runs and sends

This plugin has no local code. It declares one remote MCP server, https://stash.graftedsoftware.com/mcp, run by Grafted Software, plus three skills written in Markdown.

  • Claude sends tool calls (search queries, note text you ask it to save, note ids) to that server, authenticated with an OAuth token you grant on the consent screen.
  • Notes are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM). They are not zero-knowledge: the server decrypts them to run tools, the same way it already does to summarize a note.
  • To summarize, research, and answer questions, the server sends note text to Anthropic (Claude), via OpenRouter. Summaries and research also use OpenRouter's web search. To decide whether a summary should use web search, it sends up to 2,000 characters of the note to TypeSafe (Jev), via OpenRouter.
  • Audit logs record the action, note id, and client id. They never record note bodies or search text.

To stop access, remove the connector in Claude or delete your Stash account in the app.
