Create watch-together rooms, scheduled watch parties and branded class links. No sign-up.

Overview

AI-generated overview

ScreenParty lets an assistant create and manage private browser watch-together rooms, scheduled watch parties and permanent branded video pages.

What you can do
  • Create watch rooms and scheduled watch parties, with a shareable room link and organiser key
  • Look up a party by its 5-character code to see title, start time, entry status and who is inside
  • Change a party's start time or title, or cancel it, keeping the same link
  • Create, read, update and delete permanent branded pages with a name, description, colour and video
  • Report whether a branded page's room currently has people in it
When to use it
Useful when a user wants to watch a video together with friends now or at a set time, or when a teacher, class, club or community needs one reusable link that always opens the same room. Also handy for checking or editing an existing party or branded page.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint over streamable HTTP; no sign-up, package or environment variables are declared. Videos must be a direct mp4, webm or m3u8 link or a public YouTube video. Managing a party needs the organiser key or organiser link; editing a branded page needs its edit link or slug plus edit key.
Before you install
Organiser keys, organiser links and edit links are private and should only be given to the requesting user, never in messages meant for guests. Cancelling a party breaks its countdown page and link, and deleting a branded page is permanent and cannot be undone, so confirm with the user first. Paid streaming services cannot be synced.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open ScreenParty in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.huitongdesk.screenparty%2Fwatch-together/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

create_watch_room

Create a watch-together room

Creates a private ScreenParty room where friends watch the same video in sync, in their browsers, with chat and voice. Use it when the user wants to watch something together now, or plan a watch party at a set time. Without start_time the room is ready now: the first person to open room_link becomes the host (controls playback), so tell the user to open it before sharing. With start_time it returns a countdown page with "add to calendar" for guests; the room opens 15 minutes early, and organiser_link lets the user open it any time and host it. Share room_link or schedule_page with guests; keep organiser_link and organiser_key for the user only (they also change it with update_watch_party and cancel it with cancel_watch_party). The room made here is what the *_watch_party tools call a watch party — same room_code.

get_watch_party

Look up a watch party

Looks up a watch party — a room made with create_watch_room, now or scheduled — by its 5-character code (from create_watch_room or from a ScreenParty link such as …/s/AB2CD or …room.html?room=AB2CD). Returns its title, start time, whether guests can enter yet and whether people are in it right now. Use it to answer "when does it start?" or "is it open?". Read-only; it never reveals who is in the room.

update_watch_party

Change a watch party

Changes the start time and/or title of a watch party (a room made with create_watch_room, same room_code). The link stays the same, so invitations already sent keep working — prefer this over cancelling and creating a new one. Needs the organiser_key (or organiser_link) from create_watch_room. Guests who already added the old time to their calendar should be told to update it.

cancel_watch_party

Cancel a scheduled watch party

Cancels a watch party (a room made with create_watch_room, same room_code): its countdown page and link stop working. Needs the organiser_key (or organiser_link) that create_watch_room returned, so only the organiser can cancel. A room that is already open carries on until everyone leaves. Cannot be undone; confirm with the user first.
