Overview
Hosted Instagram MCP server that lets an AI assistant read Instagram Business or Creator analytics and publish or moderate content.
- What you can do
- Read account, profile, media, Story and comment data, plus insights and audience metrics
- Look up another Business or Creator account's public profile and recent media by username
- Check media container processing status before publishing
- Publish posts and media containers, and create, reply to, hide, unhide or delete comments
- Toggle comments on or off for a media post
- When to use it
- Useful for social media managers, creators and brands who want to ask an assistant about Instagram performance, audience demographics and best posting times, or to publish and moderate content from the same conversation. Requires an Instagram Business or Creator account and an InsightfulPipe subscription.
- Requirements
- A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no local package to install. OAuth sign-in to InsightfulPipe is required, and the connected Instagram account must be a Business or Creator account (personal accounts are not supported). Access is included in InsightfulPipe plans, which start at $29.99/month with a 7-day trial.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Instagram MCP by InsightfulPipe in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

What is Instagram MCP?
Instagram MCP is a remote Model Context Protocol server that connects your Instagram Business or Creator account to AI assistants. This integration allows you to:
- Query Instagram analytics using natural language
- Analyze post, Story, and Reels performance
- Track follower growth and audience demographics
- Publish posts and manage comments
Installation
Claude
- Copy the MCP Server URL:
https://instagram.insightfulmcp.com/ - Open Claude Connectors Settings
- Scroll to the bottom and click Add custom connector
- Paste the URL and click Add
- Click Connect and sign in to InsightfulPipe if asked. Claude then lists the connector as connected.
ChatGPT
Custom MCP servers are added through ChatGPT's Developer mode. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan, and workspace admins may need to allow it.
- Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT settings
- Create a new app for a remote MCP server and paste the URL:
https://instagram.insightfulmcp.com/ - Sign in to InsightfulPipe if asked. The connection finishes as soon as you are signed in.

Control What Your AI Can Do
You decide what AI agents can do with each connected account:
- Turn individual actions on or off for every connected account, so agents only see the actions you allow.
- Connect as Read-only or Read & Write. A read-only connection can only enable read actions.
- Destructive actions stay off by default. Actions such as deletes are disabled until an admin enables them.
- Team access per account. Restricted team members only use the accounts they are granted, with the read actions enabled on them.
