Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no local package or runtime. OAuth sign-in to InsightfulPipe is required at connect time, and the granted Notion scopes decide what is allowed. A paid InsightfulPipe plan is needed after a 7-day trial. ChatGPT use requires Developer mode and a plan that supports it.
Before you install
Write actions change real workspace content: pages, databases, blocks, comments and page moves, and deletes archive blocks. Destructive actions are off by default and must be enabled by an admin. Access is governed by the OAuth scopes granted at connect time, so connect read-only unless writes are needed. Notion content is handled by a third-party hosted service, and the service is billed per plan.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Notion MCP by InsightfulPipe in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

What is Notion MCP?

Notion MCP is a remote Model Context Protocol server hosted by InsightfulPipe. Search and read Notion pages, databases, and data sources, retrieve block trees, query data-source rows, and (with read+write scopes) create or update pages and blocks. The OAuth scopes you granted at connect time decide what's allowed.

Installation

Claude

  1. Copy the MCP Server URL: https://notion.insightfulmcp.com/
  2. Open Claude Connectors Settings
  3. Scroll to the bottom and click Add custom connector
  4. Paste the URL and click Add
  5. Click Connect and sign in to InsightfulPipe if asked. Claude then lists the connector as connected.

ChatGPT

Custom MCP servers are added through ChatGPT's Developer mode. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan, and workspace admins may need to allow it.

  1. Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT settings
  2. Create a new app for a remote MCP server and paste the URL: https://notion.insightfulmcp.com/
  3. Sign in to InsightfulPipe if asked. The connection finishes as soon as you are signed in.

Control What Your AI Can Do

You decide what AI agents can do with each connected account:

  • Turn individual actions on or off for every connected account, so agents only see the actions you allow.
  • Connect as Read-only or Read & Write. A read-only connection can only enable read actions.
  • Destructive actions stay off by default. Actions such as deletes are disabled until an admin enables them.
  • Team access per account. Restricted team members only use the accounts they are granted, with the read actions enabled on them.
