Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted MCP server that lets an assistant manage OpenAI Ads campaigns, ad groups, ads, audiences and lead forms, and read performance insights.

What you can do
  • Read campaigns, ad groups, ads, creatives, custom audiences, lead forms, pixels and conversion settings
  • Pull performance and conversion insights at account, campaign, ad group and ad level
  • Create and update campaigns, ad groups, ads, budgets, targeting and brand metadata
  • Manage custom audiences, lead forms, product feed items and uploaded image assets
  • Submit bulk mutation jobs and send server-side conversion events
When to use it
Useful when you run OpenAI Ads and want an assistant to report on campaign performance or make account changes from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor without switching to the ads interface. Per-account action toggles and a read-only mode make it usable for reporting-only setups.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint added as a custom connector or HTTP server; OAuth sign-in to InsightfulPipe is required. A paid InsightfulPipe subscription (plans start at $29.99/month, 7-day trial) and a connected OpenAI Ads account. ChatGPT use needs developer mode and a plan that allows it.
Before you install
24 of the 49 actions write to the ad account, including creating and updating campaigns, publishing lead forms, sending conversion events and uploading files; new campaigns, ad groups and ads are created paused. Destructive actions are off by default and read-only connections are available, so review which actions are enabled per account. Sign-in goes through InsightfulPipe, which hosts the server and brokers access to your ad account.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open OpenAI Ads MCP by InsightfulPipe in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.insightfulpipe%2Fopenai-ads/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

What is OpenAI Ads MCP?

OpenAI Ads MCP is a remote Model Context Protocol server hosted by InsightfulPipe. Manage OpenAI Ads campaigns, ad groups, ads, and creatives, and analyze performance insights.

Installation

Claude

  1. Copy the MCP Server URL: https://openai-ads.insightfulmcp.com/
  2. Open Claude Connectors Settings
  3. Scroll to the bottom and click Add custom connector
  4. Paste the URL and click Add
  5. Click Connect and sign in to InsightfulPipe if asked. Claude then lists the connector as connected.

ChatGPT

Custom MCP servers are added through ChatGPT's Developer mode. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan, and workspace admins may need to allow it.

  1. Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT settings
  2. Create a new app for a remote MCP server and paste the URL: https://openai-ads.insightfulmcp.com/
  3. Sign in to InsightfulPipe if asked. The connection finishes as soon as you are signed in.

See OpenAI's guide: Developer mode and MCP apps in ChatGPT

Control What Your AI Can Do

You decide what AI agents can do with each connected account:

  • Turn individual actions on or off for every connected account, so agents only see the actions you allow.
  • Connect as Read-only or Read & Write. A read-only connection can only enable read actions.
  • Destructive actions stay off by default. Actions such as deletes are disabled until an admin enables them.
  • Team access per account. Restricted team members only use the accounts they are granted, with the read actions enabled on them.

Usage Examples

"Show my OpenAI Ads campaign performance for the last 14 days"
"Which ad groups have the highest click-through rate?"
"Create a paused campaign for our spring launch"

Pricing

The OpenAI Ads MCP server is included in every InsightfulPipe plan, together with all other MCP servers and the CLI. Plans start at $29.99/month, and you can try it for 7 days. See insightfulpipe.com/pricing for current plans.
