Overview

AI-generated overview

Lets an assistant compute Vedic astrology results: birth star and ascendant, monthly transit forecasts, daily panchang and Hindu festivals.

What you can do
Provides four tools for Vedic astrology. find_birth_star derives a person's janma nakshatra and pada, Moon sign and, when the birth time is given, the ascendant from birth date, place and time using sidereal Lahiri calculations. monthly_forecast gives this or next month's planetary transits for a birth star and ascendant, with dates in IST, the houses crossed and classical results. panchang returns the Hindu almanac for a day at New Delhi, and festivals lists upcoming Hindu festivals and vratas.
When to use it
Useful when someone wants astrological calculations or almanac information explained conversationally, such as a birth chart summary, a monthly transit reading, or the panchang and festival dates for a given day.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint at kundaly.com over streamable HTTP. No authentication, environment variables or headers are declared, and no local package is needed.
Before you install
Birth date, time and place are sent to a third-party service; treat them as personal data. Panchang and festival results are fixed to New Delhi and Indian Standard Time, and forecasts are presented as classical astrological interpretation rather than factual prediction.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Kundaly — Vedic astrology in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.kundaly%2Fvedic-astrology/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

find_birth_star

Find a birth star

Compute a person's Vedic birth star (janma nakshatra and pada), Moon sign and — when the birth time is known — ascendant (lagna), from their birth details. Sidereal (Lahiri), computed from the birth moment. birth_date: YYYY-MM-DD. birth_place: city and country, e.g. "Pune, India". birth_time: HH:MM, 24-hour, local time at the birth place — omit if unknown (the ascendant then can't be given, and the Moon may be one of two signs or stars that day). The details are used for this answer only and never stored.

monthly_forecast

Monthly forecast

This month's (or next month's) Vedic transit forecast for one birth star (nakshatra) and ascendant: the key planetary moves with dates (IST), the house each planet crosses from the ascendant and what it governs, the classical result of each transit counted from the Moon sign (Phaladīpikā ch. 26, cited per verse — both Moon signs where the star spans two), and each planet's tārā from the birth star. A general reading for everyone with this combination, for reflection. birth_star: one of the 27 nakshatras (any common spelling). ascendant: a sign, English or Sanskrit. month: "current" or "next".

Parametersmonthascendantrequiredbirth_starrequired

panchang

Today's panchang

The Hindu almanac (panchang) for a day at New Delhi (IST): the five limbs (vāra, tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana), sunrise and sunset, Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda and Gulika, Abhijit, and the day's chaughadia. With a birth_star, also that star's tārā for the day. date: "today" or YYYY-MM-DD (within a year either way). birth_star: optional nakshatra name.

Parametersdatebirth_star

festivals

Festivals ahead

Hindu festivals and observances (vratas) in the coming week or month, dated by the tithi at sunrise in India (IST). horizon: "week" or "month".
