Overview

AI-generated overview

A hosted catalogue of maker marks, hallmarks and stamps on pottery, silver, jewelry and glass, letting an assistant match a described mark and look up its…

What you can do
  • Match a described mark against catalogue entries by wording, symbols, outline, colour, type, country and years, with ranked candidates and the details that matched
  • Search makers and aliases by name, optionally within a category or country, with place, active years and an example mark
  • Retrieve the full public record for one mark or one maker, including dating notes, history, what to look for and look-alike makers
  • List all marks of a maker in date order with images
  • List the catalogue's categories with mark and maker counts
When to use it
Useful when someone has a piece of pottery, porcelain, silver, jewelry or glass and wants to know which maker marks or hallmarks might match, or who a named maker was and what marks they used.
Requirements
Remote MCP endpoint hosted by Marks & Signatures; no sign-in or API key needed. Works in clients that support remote MCP servers.
Before you install
Results are ranked catalogue candidates, not a confirmed identification, so images should be compared with the object. Valuation and authenticity checks are outside the catalogue, and published periods and dating notes may be approximate. All tools are read-only.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Marks & Signatures in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.marksandsignatures%2Fmarksandsignatures-com/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows
