Overview

AI-generated overview

Lets an assistant read KerfScript docs and examples, inspect a design's settings, and render parametric laser-cutting designs to SVG or DXF.

What you can do
  • Read KerfScript language and JavaScript integration guides, paginated by topic
  • Find working parametric examples by title, id or tag and fetch their .kerf source
  • Extract editable settings and customizer ranges from .kerf source without rendering geometry
  • Render .kerf source to SVG or DXF, one file per sheet, with part sizes, layers and warnings
When to use it
Useful when an assistant is writing or checking parametric laser-cutting designs and generators in KerfScript and needs the language reference, sample code, or a quick render to test its code before handing it over.
Requirements
Either the hosted endpoint, which needs no account or key, or a local run via npx with Node.js 20 or newer. No environment variables or headers are declared. The hosted server allows roughly 60 requests a minute and 1,000 a day per client.
Before you install
Renders are limited to 100 parts, 10 sheets and 100,000 steps, and designs cannot read files or fetch from the network; larger work needs the KerfScript package or CLI. A successful render does not mean parts fit, so test-cut material first. The hosted server does not store or log submitted designs; running locally keeps designs on your machine.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open KerfScript in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.mylasertools%2Fkerfscript/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

KerfScript MCP

An MCP server that lets AI assistants write and check KerfScript laser-cutting designs. The assistant can read the KerfScript docs and examples, find a design's settings and render it to SVG or DXF, so it can test its code before giving it to you.

Connect

The hosted server needs no account or key:

text
https://mcp.mylasertools.com/mcp

Claude Code

sh
claude mcp add --transport http kerfscript https://mcp.mylasertools.com/mcp

Claude (desktop and web): Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, and enter the address above.

Cursor: add it to .cursor/mcp.json:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "kerfscript": { "url": "https://mcp.mylasertools.com/mcp" }  }}

VS Code: add it to .vscode/mcp.json:

json
{  "servers": {    "kerfscript": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.mylasertools.com/mcp" }  }}

Run it locally

With Node.js 20 or newer, the same server runs on your computer and designs never leave it:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "kerfscript": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@mylasertools/kerfscript-mcp"] }  }}

In Claude Code:

sh
claude mcp add kerfscript -- npx -y @mylasertools/kerfscript-mcp

Tools

ToolWhat it does
kerfscript_docsReads the guides and the language reference
kerfscript_examplesFinds examples by title or tag and returns their source
kerfscript_parametersLists a design's settings with their ranges and choices
kerfscript_renderRenders a design to SVG or DXF, with its parts, sizes, layers and any warnings

Sizes are in millimetres. Text uses the bundled Atkinson Hyperlegible font.

Limits

A design may be up to 64,000 characters, with up to 20 libraries of its own passed alongside it. It cannot read files or fetch anything from the network. Each render stops at 100,000 steps, 100 parts and 10 sheets. For bigger designs or other fonts, use the KerfScript package or its command line.

The hosted server allows each client about 60 requests a minute and 1,000 a day. It does not store or log the designs you send.

A render that succeeds does not mean the parts fit. Cut a test piece in your material before cutting a new design.
