Read and move Trello cards by the task ids your AI assistant invented.

Overview

AI-generated overview

Local MCP server that lets an assistant list your Trello boards and tasks and move cards between columns using task ids.

What you can do
  • List the open Trello boards the account can see, by name
  • List every task on a board with its column, in board order
  • Move a single task to a named column such as In Progress or Done, restoring it if it was archived
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to read a Trello board's tasks and update their status without opening Trello, for example to report progress or move finished work to Done.
Requirements
Runs as a local npm package over stdio, desktop only. Needs a Trello API token with read and write scope in TRELLO_TOKEN. TRELLO_API_KEY is optional and defaults to the Power-Up's own app key; TRELLO_BOARD is optional and can name a default board. Network access to Trello is required.
Before you install
The required TRELLO_TOKEN grants read and write access to your Trello account and is requested with no expiration. The move_task tool changes data on your board and can bring archived tasks back. The default app key is shared by the Power-Up, so you can supply your own key instead.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Kanban Importer in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

list_boards

List Trello boards

The open Trello boards this account can see, by name. Use it when you do not know which board holds the tasks.

Takes no parameters.

list_tasks

Read task status

Every task on the board, with the column it is in. "columns" is in board order from first to last, so a task's "List" tells you how far along it is. ALWAYS refer to a task by its "Title" when you talk to a person: the Title is what is written on the Trello card, and the "Task ID" appears nowhere a person can see, so naming a task by its id gives them something they cannot find on their own board. Use "Task ID" only to match a task between calls and to pass to move_task.

move_task

Move a task to a column

Move one task to a named column, for example "In Progress" or "Done". Takes the task id, not a Trello card id. A task that was archived is brought back when it is moved. When you tell a person what you moved, name the task by its Title rather than its id.
