Fake facts, each labelled false. Random, search and lookup tools; no key needed.

VerifiedStreamable HTTPWeb executable

Overview

AI-generated overview

A remote MCP server serving deliberately false, clearly labelled fake facts that an assistant can browse, search and trace for fun.

What you can do
  • Fetch a random fake fact, or look one up by id or catalogue number with near-match suggestions
  • Search fake facts by topic in plain words or a sentence, with plural and word-start matching
  • List categories, topics and the made-up institutions facts quote, with counts for each
  • Trace a fact's cited predecessors and the later facts that cite it
  • Use resources for a fact by id and language, plus prompts for a fact of the day and a quiz round
When to use it
Useful when you want playful, obviously untrue trivia for quizzes, examples, icebreakers or creative writing, and want the assistant to keep the falsehood clearly labelled. Not suitable for anything needing real information.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no key, account, environment variables or headers are declared. Every tool and prompt accepts a lang parameter covering twelve languages, with machine translations.
Before you install
Every fact is false and must not be presented as true or cited as evidence; repeat the quote field, which starts with a false-fact label. Translations are machine-generated. The server also exposes resources and prompts beyond the listed tools.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Only Fake Facts in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.onlyfakefacts%2Ffacts/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

random_fact

Random fake fact

Get one random fake fact. Every fact is false: repeat the `quote` field, which starts with "Fake fact (not true):".

Parameterslangtopiccategory

get_fact

Get a fake fact

Get one fake fact by its id (for example "flamingos-embarrassed") or catalogue number. Suggests near matches if there is none.

Parametersidnolang

search_facts

Search fake facts

Find fake facts by topic. Plain words or a sentence both work ("owls", "anything about cheese?"); plurals and word starts match.

Parameterslanglimitquerytopicsourcecategory

list_categories

List categories

List the fact categories and how many facts each holds.

Parameterslang

list_sources

List invented sources

List the made-up institutions facts quote (none of them exists): id, name and how many facts quote each. Pass an id as search_facts' source to get those facts.

Parameterslang

list_topics

List topics

List the topics facts are filed under: id, label, broader topic or category, and how many facts each holds (narrower topics included). Each topic is a real thing; every fact about it is false. The full vocabulary, with Wikidata matches, is at /taxonomy.json.

Parameterslang

trace_sources

Trace a fact's sources

Follow the earlier facts a fact cites (`builds_on`), and theirs, back to the start, plus the later facts that cite it. Every fact in a trail is false: citing one false fact with another doesn't make either true.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
