Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted MCP server that drafts replies to customer reviews on Google, Yelp, Facebook, TripAdvisor and Trustpilot, plus short messages asking customers for a…

What you can do
  • Draft replies to customer reviews: pass business name, star rating and review text, with optional tone, length, platform and owner notes, and get a ready-to-post reply.
  • Rewrite a reply: request a differently worded version or add owner notes for changes.
  • Draft review request messages: up to three short text or email options asking a customer for a Google review, with the review link at the end.
  • Both tools only return text; nothing is posted or sent.
When to use it
Useful when a business owner pastes in a review and wants a calm, on-brand response, including angry or negative reviews, or wants wording for asking a customer for a Google review. It is a drafting aid only, so the owner still copies and posts the reply or sends the message themselves.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint over Streamable HTTP; nothing to install. No account, API key or authentication is required. Adding it to Gemini's custom apps is limited to personal Google accounts in the US, aged 18 and over, in English, with activity keeping on.
Before you install
Review text, business and customer names, and the review link are sent to the hosted service; replies are generated with OpenAI's API, while request messages come from templates. The server states it does not store these inputs. It never posts or sends anything, so the owner must publish or send the output. Do not pass invented business facts as owner notes.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open ReplyOnTheFly in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.replyonthefly%2Freplyonthefly/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

ReplyOnTheFly MCP server

Writes replies to customer reviews on Google, Yelp, Facebook, TripAdvisor and Trustpilot, and short messages asking a customer for a Google review. It is a hosted remote server: nothing to install, no account, no API key.

URLhttps://www.replyonthefly.com/mcp
TransportStreamable HTTP
AuthenticationNone
MCP Registry namecom.replyonthefly/replyonthefly

This repository holds the documentation. The server itself is hosted and run by ReplyOnTheFly.

Configure

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

Add the server to .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace, or to your user mcp.json:

json
{  "servers": {    "replyonthefly": {      "type": "http",      "url": "https://www.replyonthefly.com/mcp"    }  }}

Then open Copilot Chat in agent mode and make sure the ReplyOnTheFly tools are enabled.

Gemini

On gemini.google.com, open Settings > Connected Apps and click + Custom. Paste the URL, click Next, accept the notice and click Connect. In a chat, type @ReplyOnTheFly, pick it, and paste the review. Google limits custom apps to personal Google accounts in the US, aged 18 and over, in English, with Keep Activity on. You add them on the web; they also work in the Gemini mobile app.

Other MCP clients

Add a remote MCP server with the URL https://www.replyonthefly.com/mcp, transport Streamable HTTP, and no authentication. Setup steps for each app are also at replyonthefly.com/ai-connector.

Use it

Paste a review into the chat and ask for a reply. For example:

  • Write a reply to this 1-star Google review of my restaurant: …
  • Help me respond to an angry customer review without sounding defensive
  • Make it shorter and sign it from Maria
  • Write a text I can send my customer Dana asking for a Google review

Example output. Prompt:

Help me respond to this 2-star review of Oak & Pine Furniture without sounding defensive: "Nobody answered the phone all week and my order still isn't here."

Reply:

I'm really sorry your experience with us was frustrating and disappointing. We take responsibility for this and would like to sort it out, please reach out to us directly so we can look into your order and make things right. I hope we can resolve this for you soon.

Tools

Both tools are read-only: they return text and change nothing anywhere.

write_review_reply

Writes a reply that fits the star rating: a thank-you for happy customers, and for unhappy ones a calm reply that acknowledges the problem without arguing and offers to make it right. Healthcare replies never confirm that the reviewer is a patient.

InputRequiredDescription
business_nameyesName of the business being reviewed
star_ratingyesStars the customer gave, 1 to 5
review_textThe review as the customer wrote it (up to 2,000 characters)
reviewer_nameThe reviewer's display name, if shown
business_typeFor example "dentist", "pizza restaurant", "plumber"
tonefriendly (default), professional, casual or enthusiastic
lengthconcise (1 to 2 sentences), standard (2 to 3, default) or detailed (3 to 4)
platformgoogle (default), yelp, facebook, tripadvisor or trustpilot
owner_notesUp to 5 facts or wishes from the owner, such as "we fixed the AC last week" or "sign off as Maria"
alternatetrue for a differently worded version of a reply already written

Returns the reply as text, plus structured content with reply, star_rating, business_name and platform.

write_review_request_message

Writes up to three short texts or emails asking a customer for a Google review, worded for the type of business, with the review link at the end. They never offer a discount or reward, because Google does not allow incentives for reviews.

InputRequiredDescription
business_nameyesName of the business asking for the review
business_typeFor example "plumber", "hair salon", "restaurant"
customer_first_nameThe customer's first name
channeltext (default) or email
review_linkThe business's Google review link (https://...). Without it, the messages use a placeholder and explain where to find the link.

What it does not do

  • Post anything. You copy the reply and paste it under the review yourself.
  • Send texts or emails. You send the review request yourself.
  • Write reviews, fake or otherwise.
  • Connect to your Google Business Profile or need a ReplyOnTheFly account.

Privacy

The server receives only the tool inputs for each request. It does not store the review, the names, the review link or the reply. Replies are generated with OpenAI's API; review request messages come from templates and are not sent to OpenAI. Full details: replyonthefly.com/privacy#ai-apps.

write_review_reply

Write a review reply

Writes a reply a business owner can post under a customer review on Google, Yelp, Facebook, TripAdvisor or Trustpilot. Use it when someone shares a review of their business and wants a response to it, including angry or negative reviews. The reply follows the star rating: it thanks happy customers, and for low ratings it acknowledges the problem without arguing and offers to make it right. It does not post anything anywhere; the owner copies the reply and posts it themselves. It does not write reviews.

write_review_request_message

Write a review request message

Writes short messages a business owner can text or email to a customer to ask for a Google review, adapted to the type of business. Use it when someone wants more Google reviews or asks how to ask a customer for a review. Returns up to three ready-to-send options with the owner's review link at the end. It does not send anything. The messages never offer incentives, which Google prohibits.
