Build and manage repository-backed web apps with Samebase, GitHub, Convex, and Cloudflare.
Overview
Samebase connects AI assistants to repository-backed web apps managed by Samebase, with GitHub, Convex and Cloudflare behind them.
- What you can do
- List and manage the user's Samebase apps from the assistant.
- Work on repository-backed web apps whose code lives in GitHub, with Convex and Cloudflare as backing services.
- Open the Samebase dashboard through a one-time browser-handoff URL returned by the server.
- Ask the user before making a provider change, per the bundled skill.
- When to use it
- Useful when you build or maintain web apps hosted and managed through Samebase and want an assistant to list, inspect or change them without leaving the chat. It is aimed at ChatGPT, Codex and Claude Code users who already have Samebase apps.
- Requirements
- A remote MCP endpoint at samebase.com; no local package or environment variables. OAuth authorization is required, started from the client (for example the /mcp command in Claude Code) or completed after plugin installation. Installed as a plugin via the ChatGPT/Codex catalog or a marketplace command, and a new chat or task is needed after install or update.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Samebase in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.samebase%2Fsamebase/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.Other MCP clients
Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

Samebase plugin
Samebase connects ChatGPT, Codex, and Claude Code to repository-backed apps managed by Samebase. The plugin includes the Samebase MCP server and one skill that tells the client when to use Samebase and when to ask before a provider change.
This repository is generated. Do not edit it directly. Use GitHub Issues to request a change or report a problem.
Authorize Samebase
The plugin installs one MCP server named samebase. Authorize it when the client asks for access.
Do not add https://samebase.com/mcp as a second manual server.
open @samebase works only after Samebase is authorized. The agent opens the dashboard only with a
one-time URL returned by the Samebase browser-handoff action. The public Samebase site is not an
authorization or dashboard fallback.
If a requested Samebase action is absent, including when no Samebase actions appear, use the recovery controls for the current client. A missing action does not prove that authorization failed. Start authorization only when a callable connection or action reports an authorization or scope error. Do not open the public Samebase site as a fallback.
Start a new chat or task after installation or an update. To confirm the connection, ask:
Install with ChatGPT or Codex
Install Samebase from Plugins when it appears in your ChatGPT Work or Codex catalog.
For direct Codex installation, add this repository as a marketplace:
Update a direct installation with:
If a requested action is absent, use Codex Plugins if the CLI is unavailable. Refresh the
marketplace. Read the latest available version and the direct entry's installed state and version.
If the user states in a new task that this version was already repaired, report that the plugin did
not register and stop. Otherwise, install or enable samebase@samebase if it is absent or disabled,
update it if it is older, or reinstall only that entry if the versions match. Complete the OAuth
flow started by installation. Before restart, tell the user to state the repaired version in the new
task.
Install with Claude Code
Add the marketplace and install the plugin:
Update it with:
Use /mcp to authorize Samebase when Claude Code asks for access.
If a requested action is absent, inspect the local entry with /plugin, then run the marketplace
update, plugin update, and reload commands above. Use /mcp only when the connection reports an
authorization error. If actions remain absent after reload, report that the MCP connection did not
register and stop. Do not use Codex plugin state or controls.
Support and security
