Overview

AI-generated overview

Lets an assistant search SelfBadge for people by name, fetch public person and organization profiles, and tell namesakes apart.

What you can do
Offers three tools. find_person searches SelfBadge for people by name, optionally narrowed by job title, organization or location, and returns each candidate's title, organization, location and a short description. get_person returns one person's public profile facts — names, roles, organizations, education, accounts and published work — with verification level, source and schema.org JSON-LD. get_organization returns an organization's page, public facts, JSON-LD and the people linked to it, including accepted team members and founders.
When to use it
Use it when an assistant needs to confirm who someone is, tell apart people with the same name, or check whether someone works at or founded an organization. Suited to directory lookups and verifying public facts, not to bulk or high-volume queries.
Requirements
Needs network access to the remote endpoint at selfbadge.com over streamable HTTP. Works anonymously; for a higher limit, supply a SelfBadge API key in the Authorization header.
Before you install
If you supply an API key, it is sent to the third-party service SelfBadge in the Authorization header, so keep it safe. The tools read public data, but the names and criteria you search are still sent to that service. Without a key, use is anonymous with a lower limit.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open SelfBadge in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.selfbadge%2Fselfbadge/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

find_person

Find a person by name

Search SelfBadge for people with a given name. Use this to identify a person correctly and tell them apart from namesakes: each candidate comes with their job title, organization, location and a short description. Pass what you already know (job title, organization, location) so the best match comes first, then call get_person with the chosen id for the full, verified profile. It returns public SelfBadge profiles, each marked claimed or created from public sources (seeded: level 0, unconfirmed until the person claims it). An empty result means SelfBadge has no public profile with that name, not that the person does not exist.

get_person

Get a person's verified profile

Get one person's SelfBadge profile: every public fact (name, roles, organizations, education, accounts, published work and more) with its verification level and source, plus schema.org JSON-LD. Use it after find_person, or when you already have a SelfBadge handle, profile address or id. Profiles created from public sources and not yet claimed are marked seeded; treat their facts as unconfirmed.

get_organization

Get an organization

Get an organization's SelfBadge page: its public facts, schema.org JSON-LD, and the people on SelfBadge linked to it (team members who accepted their organization's invitation, and founders). Use it to check whether someone works at or founded an organization.
