Overview

AI-generated overview

Converts raster images such as logos, icons and scans into vector formats (SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF) through the Shapesoda service.

What you can do
The server exposes Shapesoda's image vectorization service. The vectorize tool turns a raster image (PNG, JPEG, WebP, BMP, GIF, TIFF) into SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF or a re-rendered PNG, taking the image as a chat attachment, an upload_id or exact base64 bytes. create_upload issues a one-time upload link for a local file, open_editor opens a Shapesoda window where the user picks a file and adjusts settings, revectorize re-runs a stored result with other settings, and get_usage reports monthly credit use.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to turn a logo, icon, illustration, scan or screenshot into a scalable vector file, or when a user wants to adjust vectorization settings interactively. It fits workflows where a hosted conversion service is acceptable instead of local tracing tools.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint at shapesoda.com over streamable HTTP; no packages, environment variables or headers are declared. Uploading a local file requires a terminal that can reach shapesoda.com (for example Claude Code or Cursor); chat apps without that access must use the editor window instead. A Shapesoda account with credits is implied by the usage tool.
Before you install
Vectorization consumes credits, and get_usage reports how many remain, so repeated or large jobs may use up a paid quota. Images are sent to the third-party Shapesoda service for processing. The upload link is one-time and valid for 10 minutes, and the curl command it returns must be run in a terminal that can reach the service.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Shapesoda in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.shapesoda%2Fvectorizer/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

create_upload

Create upload link

Creates a one-time upload link for a local image file (valid 10 minutes). Upload the file with the returned curl command, then pass upload_id to vectorize. Only for agents whose terminal can reach shapesoda.com (Claude Code, Cursor and similar); in Claude.ai and other chat apps the sandbox cannot upload there, so call open_editor instead.

vectorize

Vectorize image

Use this when the user wants to convert a raster image (logo, icon, illustration, scan, screenshot; PNG, JPEG, WebP, BMP, GIF, TIFF) into a vector: SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF or a re-rendered PNG. Pass the image in exactly one way: image (a file attached to the chat message, ChatGPT), upload_id (from create_upload) or image_base64 (≤2 MB, only exact file bytes you already have as text). If none of these is available, for example an image attached in Claude.ai, call open_editor instead. Returns a download link per format, valid 24 hours (or retention_days), and the SVG inline when small. Uses 1 credit for all formats; mode=test is free and watermarked; mode=preview is a free PNG up to 1 MP whose link buys the vectors later (format=svg, 1 credit). Do not use for generating new images, editing photos or upscaling.

open_editor

Open Shapesoda

Use this when the user wants to vectorize an image but you cannot pass the image to vectorize (no image, upload_id or exact base64 bytes available), including when the user attached the image in Claude.ai: opens the Shapesoda window, where the user picks the file, sees the vector result and adjusts it. Does not vectorize by itself and uses no credits. Do not use for generating new images.

Takes no parameters.

revectorize

Re-vectorize with other settings

Re-vectorizes a stored result (result_id and token from vectorize) with other settings, free for 24 hours after the first vectorization. Used by the Shapesoda window.

Shows how many credits were used this month and how many remain.
