Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote, no-auth MCP server for searching and inspecting open-source GitHub repositories, curated topics and developer rankings indexed by SrcLog.

What you can do
  • Search repositories by keyword or semantic query, with language, topic and star filters
  • Inspect a single repository's stars, forks, license, topics, score and links, and find semantically similar repositories
  • Browse curated topics and list the most-starred repositories under a topic
  • Rank developers and organizations by stars, forks, watchers or repos, optionally by language and country, and view a user or org profile with totals and top repositories
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to research open-source options, compare or find alternatives to a project, explore a technology topic, or look up maintainers and organizations without leaving the chat.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint; no account, API key or sign-up. The server is stateless and returns plain JSON. Fair-use limit of 30 tool calls per minute per IP, shared with the SrcLog REST API.
Before you install
All tools are read-only, but each call counts against the 30-per-minute per-IP budget and over-limit calls return an error to retry later. Queries and repository or user names are sent to SrcLog.com, which serves data refreshed daily from the public GitHub API.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open SrcLog in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.srclog%2Fsrclog/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Claude.ai, ChatGPT and other apps with custom connectors

Add a custom connector, paste https://srclog.com/mcp as the server URL and leave authentication empty.

Cursor, Windsurf and other mcpServers configs

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "srclog": { "url": "https://srclog.com/mcp" }  }}

VS Code

json
{  "servers": {    "srclog": { "type": "http", "url": "https://srclog.com/mcp" }  }}

Raw JSON-RPC

bash
curl https://srclog.com/mcp \  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \  -H "Accept: application/json, text/event-stream" \  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"get_repo","arguments":{"repo":"laravel/framework"}}}'

Rate limits

Each tool call counts against a 30 requests/minute budget per IP, shared with the SrcLog REST API. Over the limit, the tool returns an error result (Rate limit: 30 req/min, retry in N s) instead of dropping the connection, so assistants can wait and retry.
