Overview

AI-generated overview

Talindrew's hosted MCP server gives assistants 90 molecular biology tools for plasmid maps, digests, primers, CRISPR, cloning, literature search and a lab…

What you can do
  • Analyze sequences: restriction sites, digests, feature detection, ORFs, translation, alignment and simulated gels
  • Design primers, mutagenesis primers, CRISPR guides, codon optimization and ligation calculations
  • Build cloning workspaces: import sequences from repositories, add restriction, Gibson, Golden Gate or Gateway steps, check primers and sequencing, export
  • Search PubMed, Europe PMC, NCBI Gene and Addgene, and read abstracts
  • Manage your Talindrew sequences, workspaces, lab-notebook entries, exports and sharing
  • Run structure prediction and drug-discovery pipelines on paid plans
When to use it
Useful when a chat needs computed rather than recalled biology numbers: primer Tm, digest fragment sizes, guide ranking, codon usage, or cloning designs. Also suits researchers who want literature lookups and lab-notebook records kept alongside their sequence work.
Requirements
Remote Streamable HTTP endpoint; nothing to install locally. OAuth sign-in with a Google account, which creates a free Talindrew account on first use. A paid plan is needed for unlimited calls and for structure prediction or drug discovery.
Before you install
Free plan allows 25 tool calls a week; Plus, Pro and Max are paid subscriptions. Tools can write to your Talindrew account (workspaces, lab-notebook entries, exports, sharing), so check scopes and prefer read-only where offered. Each client gets its own OAuth token, revocable under Settings, and account data is held by Talindrew.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Talindrew: molecular biology tools in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.talindrew%2Fmcp/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

README

Talindrew MCP server: molecular biology tools for Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor

Talindrew is a browser-based molecular biology platform (plasmid editor, cloning design, primer design, lab notebook, protein structure prediction and drug discovery). Its remote MCP server gives any MCP client 90 molecular biology tools that run on Talindrew's engines, so numbers like a primer's Tm or a digest's fragment sizes are computed, not recalled from a model's memory.

  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Sign-in: OAuth with your Google account (the first sign-in creates a free Talindrew account)
  • Server name: talindrew

This repository holds the connection details and setup instructions only. The server is hosted by Talindrew; there is nothing to install or run locally.

Connect

Claude (claude.ai, desktop and mobile)

  1. Open Customize → Connectors (claude.ai/customize/connectors), click + Add → Add custom connector.
  2. Paste https://mcp.talindrew.com/mcp, click Connect, sign in with Google and click Allow.
  3. In a chat, ask for something Talindrew does and approve the tool when Claude asks.

Team and Enterprise: an owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors; members then click Connect. Guide: https://www.talindrew.com/mcp/claude

Claude Code

bash
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user talindrew https://mcp.talindrew.com/mcp

Then run /mcp, choose talindrew and Authenticate. Guide: https://www.talindrew.com/mcp/claude-code

ChatGPT

  1. Open chatgpt.com/plugins, click + and choose Add custom MCP server.
  2. Name it Talindrew, paste https://mcp.talindrew.com/mcp as the server URL and choose OAuth.
  3. Create it as a plugin and sign in with Google when asked. In a chat, type @ and pick Talindrew.

Pricing

Connecting is free. The Free plan includes 25 tool calls a week (reset every Monday, 00:00 UTC). Plus ($9/month or $99/year, 7-day free trial) makes tool calls unlimited. Structure prediction and drug-discovery runs need Pro or Max. Details: https://www.talindrew.com/pricing

Privacy and access

Each client gets its own OAuth token scoped to your account, and you can revoke it any time in Talindrew under Settings → Connected apps. Read-only scopes cannot write. Nothing in your account is shared unless you share it. Privacy policy: https://www.talindrew.com/privacy
