Browse published articles and a month-by-month category price index
When to use it
Useful when someone asks what a UK PC part costs, which option is cheapest, whether now is a good time to buy, or whether component prices in a category are rising or falling.
Requirements
Remote endpoint at techpartprices.com over streamable HTTP; no authentication, environment variables or headers declared. Network access is needed.
Before you install
Data is described as read-only and public, and no credentials are requested. Prices cover Amazon UK listings only and are in pence, so currency and region assumptions should be stated. Buy links should be passed through as returned rather than rebuilt.
Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.techpartprices%2Fcatalogue/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.
Search tracked Amazon UK listings for CPUs, GPUs, RAM, motherboards and storage. Prices are in pence. Returns up to 10 results with current price, stock state, a product URL and buyUrl. Use this to answer "what does X cost" and "what is the cheapest Y". Give the user buyUrl when they want to buy: never rebuild an Amazon link from the ASIN.
Fetch one tracked product by its numeric ID: name, brand, current price in pence, stock state and rating. buyUrl is the link to give a user who wants to buy it; never rebuild an Amazon link from the ASIN. IDs come from search_products.

get_price_history
Read price history
Recorded price points for a product over a trailing window, with minimum, maximum, average and the direction of travel. Use this to answer "is now a good time to buy" and "has this got cheaper".

list_articles
List buying guides
Index of published articles on UK component pricing and buying advice, most recent first.

get_price_verdict
Judge a price against its own history
Answer whether a tracked product is cheap right now, by its own recorded history rather than against other products. Returns the window low, high and mean in pence, how far above its low the current price sits, and an at-low or near-low verdict, plus buyUrl for a user who decides to buy. Below ten recorded prices no verdict is given and verdictAvailable is false: do not present the numbers as a judgement in that case. IDs come from search_products.
Parametersidrequireddays
get_best_value
Best value storage and memory
Rank tracked storage by price per terabyte (unit "tb") or memory by price per gigabyte (unit "gb"), cheapest first. Unit prices are in pence. Each row carries its 90-day low, the number of recorded prices behind it, and an at-low or near-low verdict. The unit is required because the two scales cannot be compared.
Parametersunitrequiredlimitcategory
get_price_index
Read the component price index
Month-by-month price movement for a category of UK components, base 100 at the start of the series. Use to answer whether prices in a category are rising or falling. This describes a category, not an individual product: for one product use get_price_verdict. lastComputedAt says how fresh the answer is.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
