Overview

AI-generated overview

Read-only MCP server exposing sourced face measurement statistics, face-type threshold rules and a face shape classifier; it takes no photos.

What you can do
  • Look up percentile statistics for facial measurements from a 102-face reference set, overall and by sex
  • List face, eye, lip and nose types with their definitions and exact threshold rules
  • Classify a face shape from four supplied distances using the site's seven-rule classifier
  • Read the methodology: landmark model, thresholds, how the 1-10 score is built, and its validity against human raters
  • Get citation text, license terms and the source photo set
  • Get HTML for embedding the free face shape widget on a website
When to use it
Useful when you want citable, sourced face measurement numbers or the exact rule behind a face shape or face type label, rather than an opinion. Also handy for quoting the data correctly or adding the face shape widget to a page. It does not measure photos, so photo analysis has to happen in the site's browser widget.
Requirements
Remote endpoint at added as a remote MCP server with no install. A local npm package is also offered for self-hosting, which needs Node.js; the HTTP transport can be run on a chosen port. No accounts, API keys or headers are declared.
Before you install
Read-only and takes no photos, so no image data is sent. The reference set is 102 faces from one research set photographed in one city in one month, so figures describe those faces, not a population, and type splits show how the detector divides them. No accuracy figure is claimed for type labels. Quoting numbers requires the citation and CC BY 4.0 attribution, and embedded widgets must keep the visible credit link.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open TheFaceAnalysis in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.thefaceanalysis%2Fface-analysis/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

thefaceanalysis-mcp

MCP server for The Face Analysis. It gives an AI assistant sourced, citable face measurement data and the same face shape classifier the site uses. Read-only; it takes no photo.

Tools

ToolWhat it returns
get_reference_statisticsPercentiles of fWHR, midface ratio, symmetry, golden ratio fit, pupillary distance, canthal tilt on 102 faces (all / women / men)
list_face_types, get_face_typeFace, eye, lip and nose types: definition and the exact threshold rule
classify_face_shapeFace shape from four distances, using the site's seven rules in the site's order
get_methodologyThresholds, how the score is built, validity against 2,513 raters, change history

get_embed_snippetHTML to put the free face shape widget on a page

To measure a photo, use https://thefaceanalysis.com/face-shape-detector (free, runs in the browser, no sign-up) or the embeddable widget.

Use

Hosted (no install): add https://mcp.thefaceanalysis.com/mcp as a remote MCP server in your client. Setup guide: https://thefaceanalysis.com/mcp

Local:

json
{ "mcpServers": { "thefaceanalysis": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "thefaceanalysis-mcp"] } } }

Self-host the HTTP transport: npm run build && PORT=8787 npm run start:http (POST /mcp, stateless).

Honest limits

102 faces from one research set (Face Research Lab London Set), photographed in one city in one month: the numbers describe these faces, not a population. Face type splits show how the detector divides these faces, not how common a type is. No accuracy figure is claimed for any type label. Details: https://thefaceanalysis.com/methodology

Tools

7

get_reference_statistics

Face measurement statistics

Percentiles (p10, p25, median, p75, p90, min, max) of facial measurements from 102 adult faces (49 women, 53 men) of the Face Research Lab London Set, measured with a 478-point MediaPipe landmarker. Measures: composite score, symmetry, golden ratio fit, fWHR, midface ratio, pupillary distance, canthal tilt. Aggregates only; one research set photographed in one city, so these describe these faces, not a population.

Parametersgroupmeasure

list_face_types

List face, eye, lip and nose types

Lists the types the site's detectors use, with slug, name, page URL and how many of the 102 reference faces each type covered. The split shows how the detector divides these faces, not how common a type is in a population.

Parameterscategory

get_face_type

Describe one face, eye, lip or nose type

Definition and how the type is measured from a front photo (the exact threshold rule), plus its page URL. Example: category 'face', slug 'oval'.

Parametersslugrequiredcategoryrequired

classify_face_shape

Classify a face shape from four measurements

Runs the same seven-rule face shape classifier as thefaceanalysis.com/face-shape-detector on four distances (any consistent unit: pixels, mm or landmark units). Returns the shape, the rule that matched and the four ratios. It does not look at photos: to measure a photo, use the widget (get_embed_snippet) or the site. Borderline faces can flip between two shapes; no accuracy figure is claimed because the reference set has no labelled face types.

get_methodology

Methodology, thresholds and validity

How the numbers are made: the landmark model, every classification threshold, how the 1-10 score is built, and how it correlated with 2,513 human raters on the same faces (it did not predict them). Includes the method change history.

Parametersinclude_changelog

get_citation

How to cite the data

Citation text, license (CC BY 4.0 for the aggregate numbers) and the source photo set. Use when quoting a number.

Takes no parameters.

get_embed_snippet

Embed code for the face shape widget

HTML a website owner can paste to add the free face shape finder (it measures the visitor's photo in their browser, no sign-up). Includes the visible credit link the terms ask for.

100% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
