Hosted jq MCP server that lets an assistant apply jq filters to JSON data without installing jq locally.
What you can do
Apply a jq filter to JSON data, matching the hosted process endpoint
Use jq compiled to WebAssembly, including regex, formatters, definitions and supplied modules
Receive success status, result, rawResult, the jq output stream, stdout, jq version and execution time
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to query, reshape or extract from JSON in a conversation or API response and you would rather not install jq on the machine.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint at the provider's host; no local jq install and no declared authentication, environment variables or headers.
Before you install
JSON data you submit is sent to a third-party hosted service for processing; avoid sending secrets or sensitive payloads. Filters are executed server-side, so results depend on the service's jq version and modules.
Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.thejqapi%2Fjq-api/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.
Apply a jq filter to JSON data, exactly like POST https://thejqapi.com/process. Runs jq compiled to WebAssembly, including regex, formatters, definitions, and supplied modules. Returns success, result, rawResult, results (the jq output stream), stdout, jqVersion, and executionTime. Uses the same daily quota as the REST API.
