Overview

AI-generated overview

A remote, read-only MCP tool that sorts bills by due date, totals unpaid amounts, and compares planned versus actual budgets without any bank connection.

What you can do
  • Organise bills and due dates: sort a month's bills by due date and flag overdue or soon-due items
  • Total unpaid bills and show what is still outstanding
  • Compare planned versus actual spending by category
  • Work out how much of planned income remains unallocated
  • Accept user-supplied numbers, leaving unknown amounts blank
When to use it
Useful when someone wants a quick, manual overview of monthly bills, unpaid totals, and planned versus actual spending, without linking a bank account or sharing financial credentials.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no packages, environment variables, headers, or authentication are declared. The user supplies their own bill and budget figures.
Before you install
It only does arithmetic on the numbers provided and gives no financial advice. Figures entered are sent to a third-party remote service, so avoid including account numbers or other sensitive details; no bank connection is involved.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Bill & Budget Board in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.thewellhabit%2Fbill-budget/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Plan bills and a monthly budget

Helps with manual bill and budget planning, with no bank connection. Given a month's bills (name, amount, due date, paid or not) and/or planned income and spending categories (planned and actual amounts), it returns a bills checklist sorted by due date with the unpaid total and what is overdue or due in the next 7 days, each category's actual minus planned, and the plan difference (planned income minus planned category spending). A blank amount stays unknown, never zero, and bills are not added to category totals. With only a question, it explains how to set up a simple bills-and-budget board. Read-only: it stores nothing, connects to no bank and pays nothing. Not financial advice.
