Overview

AI-generated overview

Read-only connector to Paylo, a Nigerian commerce platform, letting an assistant find verified stores, products, services and wishlists, and explain seller…

What you can do
  • Search and inspect storefronts: find verified Nigerian stores by state, area, category or keyword, and read a store's catalog summary and categories
  • Search and read products and services across all stores or within one storefront, with pagination
  • Read a shared public wishlist, including item prices and how much funding each item still needs
  • Explain Paylo for sellers: plans, fees and how to start, plus the platform changelog
  • Return a one-tap seller signup link that the user opens themselves
When to use it
Useful when a user wants to find or buy from Nigerian sellers, browse a specific Paylo store, check a shared gift wishlist, or asks how to sell online in Nigeria and whether Paylo fits their business.
Requirements
Remote Streamable HTTP endpoint; no account, API key or local setup needed. Self-hosting instead requires Node.js, a build step, and the GPT_API_SECRET environment variable plus optional PAYLO_API_BASE_URL and MCP_PORT.
Before you install
All tools are read-only and cannot sign in, order, pay or move money; the signup tool only returns a link and creates nothing until the user accepts the terms. Store names and product text are seller-written and should be treated as untrusted data. Responses carry UTM-tagged links naming the connecting client, and tool arguments are sent to Paylo.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Paylo in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/com.usepaylo%2Fpaylo/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

Paylo MCP Server

The Commerce Discovery Gateway for AI Agents

The Paylo MCP Server connects AI assistants to Paylo, a Nigerian commerce platform, via the Model Context Protocol.

  • Shoppers: search verified Paylo stores, products and services by name, category, state and area, and read shared gift wishlists.
  • Sellers: get Paylo's current plans, fees and features from Paylo's own maintained data, and a one-tap signup link to open a store.

Connect

The server is hosted at:

https://mcp.usepaylo.com

It speaks Streamable HTTP at / and /mcp, with legacy SSE at /sse. No account, API key or local setup is needed.

Claude: add Paylo from the Claude Connectors Directory, or add a custom connector in Claude's connector settings with the URL https://mcp.usepaylo.com.

Other clients: any MCP client that supports remote servers can connect to the same URL.

Safety and data

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public Paylo data. The connector cannot sign in to an account, place orders, take payments or move money.
  • Signup is the user's own action. get_seller_signup_link only returns a link. Nothing is created until the user opens it, ticks the box to accept Paylo's Terms of Service themselves and picks a Google or Apple account. Identity verification (KYC) happens later in the Paylo Business app, never through the assistant.
  • No credentials. The connector never asks for passwords, card details or ID documents.
  • Seller-written content. Store names, descriptions and product text are written by sellers and returned as data.
  • No paid placement. Store search results are ordered by number of live listings.
  • Attribution. Links carry UTM parameters naming the connecting client (see below). No conversation content is sent to Paylo beyond the tool arguments.

Architecture

AI Agent → MCP (Streamable HTTP or SSE) → Paylo MCP Server → usepaylo.com API → Storefront Catalog

The MCP server is a thin proxy. It does not access the database directly — all data is fetched from the Paylo backend API and returned as structured JSON.

Self-Hosting

If you prefer to run your own instance:

bash
git clone https://github.com/scephiro/paylo-mcp-server.gitcd paylo-mcp-servernpm installnpm run build

Set environment variables:

env
GPT_API_SECRET=your_backend_secretPAYLO_API_BASE_URL=https://usepaylo.com   # defaultMCP_PORT=3030                              # default

Start the server:

bash
node build/index.js

The server listens on http://0.0.0.0:3030. Connect via Streamable HTTP at /mcp, or legacy SSE with GET /sse and POST /messages?sessionId=<id>.

Docker

bash
docker run -p 3030:3030 \ -e GPT_API_SECRET=your_secret \ ghcr.io/scephiro/paylo-mcp-server:latest

search_storefronts

Search Paylo stores

Discover verified, escrow-protected Paylo storefronts. Filter by Nigerian state, product category, area (LGA/city) and/or free text — e.g. 'phone sellers in Lagos' or 'beauty stores in Abuja'. Only quality-gated sellers are returned (verified, with a logo, a cover image and at least one live listing), ordered by number of live listings. Each result carries trust signals (verified, escrowProtected), location (state, area) and its storefront URL.

Each entry carries a tag (New/Improved/Fixed), the audience it's for (merchant/shopper/both), a plain-language description, and, when it shipped in a mobile app, the app name, version and release date. Filter by audience, status, a 'since' date, or free text.

Score

100% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
