Overview

AI-generated overview

AskHound finds recent public posts where people ask for a tool or an alternative, so an assistant can spot honest, disclosed reply opportunities.

What you can do
  • Find recent public posts where people ask for a tool, an alternative, or help with a job, across Stack Exchange (including softwarerecs) and Bluesky
  • Turn a product description into buying-intent search phrases such as competitor alternatives, switching, export, pricing pain and recommendations
  • Run a full intent pack: build the phrases, search each one, then merge and deduplicate results newest first
  • Read the honest-reply rules that AskHound users agree to before drafting any reply
When to use it
Useful when you want to find public conversations where someone is looking for a tool like yours, or for an alternative, and want to judge whether a disclosed, honest reply would genuinely help. It suits product and community outreach research rather than general web search.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no packages, environment variables or headers are declared. The remote server covers Stack Exchange and Bluesky only; Hacker News and GitHub require running a local MCP server via npx, which needs Node.js.
Before you install
Results are public posts from third parties, and any reply you draft should follow the server's honest-reply rules, including disclosure. The remote endpoint covers only Stack Exchange and Bluesky; broader coverage means running a local server. No authentication is declared.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open AskHound in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/dev.haullabs%2Faskhound/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows
