Overview

AI-generated overview

ShareNotes lets an assistant publish text as a note at a short, memorable link and read notes back from a link or name.

What you can do
Publish text, code, logs or instructions as a note and get back a short human-readable link to hand to someone or open on another device. Read a note's text from its link or just its name, with notes written in the web editor returned as HTML.
When to use it
Useful when the user wants to share a snippet of text, code, logs or instructions with another person or move text between devices, and when the user supplies a ShareNotes link and asks what it contains.
Requirements
A remote endpoint at sharenotes.dev over streamable HTTP; no account, API key, environment variables or headers are declared.
Before you install
Anyone with a note link can read it, so anything published is effectively public; avoid sending secrets or private data. Reading does not open PIN-protected notes. Publishing writes content to a third-party service.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open ShareNotes in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/dev.sharenotes%2Fnotes/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

create_note

Create a ShareNotes link

Publish text as a note on sharenotes.dev and get back a short, human-readable link (like https://sharenotes.dev/blue-fox-42) to give to a person. Use it when the user wants to share text, code, logs or instructions with someone else, or move text to another device. Anyone with the link can read the note, and notes are stored on the server, not end-to-end encrypted — never use it for passwords, API keys or other secrets. The note expires after 7 days unless you set expiresIn. Set burnAfterRead for a note that is destroyed the first time a person opens it. Returns the link and the expiry time.

read_note

Read a ShareNotes note

Read the text of a note on sharenotes.dev, given its link (https://sharenotes.dev/blue-fox-42) or just its name (blue-fox-42). Use it when the user gives you a ShareNotes link and asks about its contents. Notes written in the ShareNotes web editor are returned as HTML. It does not open PIN-protected notes, and it does not open delete-after-reading notes, because opening one destroys it — for those, ask the user to open the link in a browser.
