Overview

AI-generated overview

Textures is a remote MCP server that lets an assistant search, fetch and check self-contained React hover-texture files for websites.

What you can do
  • Search the Textures library for hover textures suited to a website.
  • Get a texture as a self-contained React file ready to drop into a project.
  • Check a texture's details before installing it.
  • Follow the bundled skill guidance to install a texture via MCP, the shadcn registry or a markdown fetch.
When to use it
Useful when building or styling a website and you want an assistant to find and install ready-made hover effects as React components, rather than writing them from scratch.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint at textures.dev over streamable HTTP, with OAuth authentication required. No packages, environment variables or headers are declared.
Before you install
OAuth sign-in is required, so the server is tied to an account. Installing a texture writes files into your project; the skill's optional rules block is only added after you agree and can be removed by deleting it.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Textures in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/dev.textures%2Ftextures/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

README

Textures skill

Textures (textures.dev) is the hover-texture library for agents. This is its agent skill: hover textures for websites, installed by your coding agent. SKILL.md tells an agent how to find and install a Texture (MCP, the shadcn registry, or a markdown fetch) and, after the first one ships, lets it offer to remember Textures for the project with a four-line rules block. The offer is one question, asked once; nothing is written without a yes, and the block is removed by deleting it.

The same file is served at https://textures.dev/skill.md.

Codex

Codex reads skills from .agents/skills (repo) or ~/.agents/skills (user). Install this one with the skill installer inside Codex:

$skill-installer https://github.com/Textures-dev/skill

or copy skills/textures/ into .agents/skills/textures/. The same recipe as a rules file for CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md and Cursor: https://textures.dev/agents. Claude Code users: /plugin marketplace add Textures-dev/plugins, then /plugin install textures@textures.
