Overview

AI-generated overview

A paid remote MCP server that lets an assistant research named web pages, verify quotes, links, DOIs and domains, and read page text, billed per call in USDC.

What you can do
Answer a question from 1-5 named web pages, with each claim backed by a verbatim quote re-checked on the live page and failing claims dropped (cited_brief). Check whether 1-10 quotes really appear on a page and return the surrounding text (check_quote). Fetch a public page and return its title and readable text without markup (page_text). Check 1-10 URLs for status, redirect targets, titles and soft-404 pages (check_links). Look up 1-10 DOIs or arXiv ids for existence, authors, year, venue, citation counts and retraction (check_doi). Read domain registration and DNS facts, including SPF and DMARC, to judge trustworthiness (domain_check). Read robots.txt and decide whether a crawler may fetch
When to use it
Useful when an assistant must produce sourced answers or audit citations: verifying that quotes, links and references are real, checking whether a site is trustworthy, or confirming crawler permission before fetching.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no package, account, API key or header is declared. Calls are paid in USDC via x402, so a wallet or payment-capable client is needed. The server needs network access to the target pages and to DOI, arXiv, RDAP/WHOIS and DNS services.
Before you install
Every call costs money in USDC (0.10 for cited_brief, 0.01 for the other tools), so usage spends funds from a wallet. The server fetches the URLs you name and sends them to third-party lookup services for DOIs, arXiv, RDAP/WHOIS and DNS. Some tools are described as not charged when a page or lookup fails, but payment handling is the client's responsibility.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Cited Brief in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/dev.workers.cited-brief.cited-brief%2Fcited-brief/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

cited_brief

Cited brief

Answers a question from 1-5 web pages you name. Every claim comes with a verbatim quote that is re-checked on the live page; claims that fail are dropped, and if none pass you are not charged. Price: $0.10 USDC per call (x402).

Parametersurlsrequiredquestionrequired

check_quote

Check quotes against a page

Checks whether 1-10 quotes really appear on a web page (ignoring case, spacing, and quote or dash styles) and returns the surrounding text. Use it to catch made-up citations. No AI involved; if the page can't be read you are not charged. Price: $0.01 USDC per call (x402).

Parametersurlrequiredquotesrequired

page_text

Read a page as clean text

Fetches a public web page and returns its title and readable text, without scripts, styles or markup (up to 100,000 characters). If the page can't be read you are not charged. Price: $0.01 USDC per call (x402).

Parametersurlrequiredmax_chars

check_doi

Check papers by DOI or arXiv id

Looks up 1-10 DOIs or arXiv ids: does the paper exist, its title, authors, year and venue, how often it is cited, and whether it has been retracted. Pass the titles you cited to see if they match the real ones. Catches made-up references. No AI involved; if the lookup services are down you are not charged. Price: $0.01 USDC per call (x402).

Parametersidsrequiredtitles

domain_check

Check a domain's age and DNS

Domain age and registration facts (created, expires, registrar, status, nameservers) from the registry's RDAP or WHOIS service, plus live DNS (address records, mail servers, SPF, DMARC) and plain flags such as "registered only 9 days ago". Use it to judge how trustworthy a site is. No AI involved. Works for most TLDs (.com, .org, .io, .ai, .dev, .co.uk and over a thousand more); if the registry has no public lookup (for example .de, .jp, .co, .ru, .ac.uk) or does not answer, you are not charged. Price: $0.02 USDC per call (x402).

Parametersdomainrequired

robots_check

May a crawler fetch this URL?

Reads the site's robots.txt and says whether a crawler may fetch a URL (RFC 9309: the longest matching rule wins, Allow wins a tie), with the matching rule, crawl-delay and sitemaps. No AI involved; if robots.txt cannot be read you are not charged. Price: $0.01 USDC per call (x402).

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
