Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP server that lets an assistant diff two texts by line, word or character, apply unified patches, and score text similarity.

What you can do
  • Compare two texts by line, word or character, returning ops, a unified diff, an optional escaped HTML redline, stats and a similarity score
  • Apply a single-file unified diff patch to text, with optional fuzz, or report that a hunk did not match
  • Measure similarity between two texts at character, word or line granularity with change stats
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs exact, reproducible text comparison: reviewing edits between document versions, checking whether a patch applies cleanly, or quantifying how much two texts differ. It is a deterministic diff, not a semantic or AI comparison.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; nothing to install locally. An optional Authorization header with a Bearer key raises rate limits, but it works without a key. No account is required.
Before you install
The service is stateless and states that text is not stored or logged, but the texts you send still leave your machine to a third-party endpoint, so avoid pasting secrets or sensitive content. The optional Authorization key is a credential and should be kept private. Size limits apply per side, and very different texts return an error instead of a partial diff.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open DiffMint by Harlo in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/dev.workers.mike-tusa.diffmint%2Fdiffmint/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

diff_text

Diff two texts

Compare text a with text b by lines (default), words or chars. Returns ops (equal/insert/delete), a unified diff (lines mode), optional escaped HTML redline, stats and similarity. Deterministic diff (Myers algorithm via jsdiff), not an AI or semantic comparison. Limits per side: lines mode 64 KB and 1,000 lines, words mode 8 KB, chars mode 4 KB. If the texts need more than 250 inserted plus deleted units, the API returns 422 too_different instead of a partial diff. Patches up to 64 KB apply to text up to 64 KB. No 3-way merge, no binary files. Stateless: text is not stored or logged; no URL fetching.

apply_patch

Apply a unified diff

Apply a single-file unified diff (patch) to text and return the patched text, or applied:false if a hunk does not match. Optional fuzz 0-2.

Parametersfuzztextrequiredpatchrequired

text_similarity

Text similarity score

Similarity ratio 0-1 between two texts (2 x unchanged chars / total chars) on chars (default), words or lines granularity, plus change stats.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
