Overview

AI-generated overview

A remote MCP server that grades MCP tool definitions for agent-readiness, returning a 0–100 score, A–F grade, per-tool scores and concrete fixes.

What you can do
  • Grade a tools/list tools array for how well AI agents can pick and call the tools
  • Get an overall 0–100 score and A–F grade plus per-tool scores
  • Receive findings with concrete fixes, such as missing or weak descriptions, untyped parameters, strings without maxLength, and missing required fields
  • See an estimated token cost of the definitions
When to use it
Useful when you maintain an MCP server or tool set and want a quick, structured review of whether its tool definitions are clear and well-typed enough for agents to select and call reliably, including before publishing or comparing revisions.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no local install or package. No account is required to use it. An optional Authorization header with a Bearer key raises the free monthly quota.
Before you install
The tool definitions you submit are sent to a third-party hosted service, so avoid including secrets or sensitive internal details in descriptions. The optional Authorization key is a credential and should be supplied through the header, not shared.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open ToolGrade in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/dev.workers.mike-tusa.toolgrade%2Ftoolgrade/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Grade MCP tool definitions for agent-readiness

Grade MCP tool definitions (the tools array from a tools/list result) for how well AI agents can pick and call them. Returns a 0–100 score and A–F grade, per-tool scores, and findings with concrete fixes: missing or weak descriptions, untyped parameters, strings without maxLength, missing required or additionalProperties, missing annotations (readOnlyHint, destructiveHint …), invalid or duplicate names, outputSchema and enum problems, hidden characters and tool-poisoning patterns. Also returns an ESTIMATED token cost of the definitions (characters ÷ 4; real counts vary by model). Pure parsing: no network calls, and your tool definitions are never stored. Read-only. Same engine as the ToolGrade JSON API (POST /api/grade).

83% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
