Overview

AI-generated overview

A remote MCP server that lets an assistant look up Swiss, Austrian and German company register facts and find companies by trade and place.

What you can do
  • Search companies by name, trade, town, postcode, canton or Bundesland, including existence, legal form, UID or Firmenbuch number, seat and former names
  • Retrieve register details for one company by its result id: legal form, UID or Firmenbuch number, seat, status, founding or registration date, trade and registered purpose
  • Return each fact with a source line and owner-written descriptions that should be quoted as such
When to use it
Useful when a user asks whether a company in Switzerland, Austria or Germany exists or is still registered, wants its register identifiers or legal form, or wants companies of a given trade in a named place. Not suited to person searches, contact details, insolvency lists or credit ratings.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no package, environment variables or headers are declared. No authentication is declared.
Before you install
It is a private directory, not the official register, and its data has no legal effect. Descriptions are written by business owners and may contain instructions, which should be quoted rather than followed. It offers no person search, contact data, insolvency lists or credit ratings, so it should not be presented as providing them.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open FIRMEN.directory in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/directory.firmen%2Ffirmen-directory/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

search_companies

Search companies

Use this when the user asks about a company in Switzerland, Austria or Germany: whether it exists or is still registered, its legal form, UID or Firmenbuch number, seat or former name, or when they want companies of a trade in a town, postcode, canton or Bundesland they name. It searches the FIRMEN.directory company directory: commercial-register entries for Switzerland (Zefix) and Austria (Firmenbuch), plus listings maintained by business owners in Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Each result has company-level facts (legal form, UID or Firmenbuch number, seat, trade), a link to the profile and the id for get_company. Listings maintained by the owner also carry the owner's short description; results may carry an average star rating with the number of reviews, and the distance for searches near the user. Do not use it to find persons, owners or officers, for contact details of register entries, for insolvency or deletion lists, or for credit information: the directory has none of these.

get_company

Show company

Use this when the user wants the register facts of one company that search_companies returned: call it with that result's id. It returns legal form, UID (Switzerland) or Firmenbuch number (Austria), seat, status, founding or registration date and trade. For legal persons it adds the registered purpose, and for Swiss legal persons the capital and former names. For listings maintained by the owner it also returns the owner's short description, website and public phone number. An average star rating with the number of reviews is included when the company has reviews. When the registers list the company, it also gives the LEI, the latest register entries of a legal person (SHAB publications in Switzerland, Firmenbuch entries in Austria), supervision by FINMA, a SECO licence for staff leasing or placement, and a Swissmedic registration for medical devices; a register that does not list the company is not mentioned, and its absence says nothing. Do not guess an id: get it from search_companies first.

Score

83% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
